Ricey Posted 14 July 2005 Posted 14 July 2005 Bit earlier but it's looking like this will be the team to start: Rab Douglas Alan Maybury Paddy McCarthy Nils-Eric Johansson Alan Sheehan Momo Sylla James Wesolowski Joey Gudjonsson Danny Tiatto Mark de Vries David Connolly Subs: Patrick Kisnorbo Stephen Hughes Gareth Williams Dion Dublin Paul Henderson Jason Wilcox Richard Stearman Chris O'Grady Hughes and Williams have minor knocks which is why they aren't starting.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 14 July 2005 Posted 14 July 2005 Interesting indication of how CL possibly sees his first-choice XI? Maybe a new left-back or Gerrbrand to replace Sheehan and possibly involving Johansson moving to left-back and Gerrbrand playing in the centre, and Hughes and Williams as first choice in central midfield. All seems to be pretty much as everyone has thought?

City Fan Posted 14 July 2005 Posted 14 July 2005 I assume a basic 442 then: Douglas Maybury / McCarthy / Nils / Sheehan Sylla / Gudjonsson / Weso / Tiatto De Vries / Connolly
Parsons Posted 14 July 2005 Posted 14 July 2005 does anybody know if this match is going to be on the radio?

Durnerz Posted 14 July 2005 Posted 14 July 2005 Its very early in Pre season at the moment so I think it will just be a case of experimenting with different 11's. I think by the time the Inter game comes we'll have an idea of the real first team 11. Lets hope Wesolowski takes his chance tonight.
supedaj Posted 14 July 2005 Posted 14 July 2005 even if he does i doubt very much he'll be making the starting 11 for a while yet. We have plenty in midfield who have costed us to simply replace with a youngster (even if he is very talented). I reckon by teh start of the season we should see something like below; Connolly DeVries Tiatto Hughes Kisnorbo Sylla Gerrbrand* Nissa McCarthy Maybury Douglas * - if he signs Subs : Dublin Williams Gudjohnson Henderson Wilcox Stearman
BartonFox Posted 14 July 2005 Posted 14 July 2005 Can't see why we are in such a rush to get a new left back in. People are clamouring for our youth products to get a chance and yet not one perseon has given Sheehan a chance. The Irish youth system is fantastic, and this lad will be a tremendous full back in a few years, whereas now he is just a very good one. Stearman has shown he can play full back and Maybury can flit over to the left in emergencies. We actually need another versatile defender (Gerrbrand) and another midfielder for the right hand side as Sylla is our only option there. Wide left there is Tiatto, Wilcox and Morris ( ), wide right there is Sylla and, erm, well neither Hughes or Williams can do that job that is for sure.

supedaj Posted 14 July 2005 Posted 14 July 2005 Indeed - CL has used Hughes on the right a few times already to allow Williams the central role. He's no winger but can do a job there. As CL said, he wants versatility as much as possible this season because we'll be hit hard during suspensions and injuries and hence its important people can cover more than just one position. As for LB, you are spot on - we dont need any more : the list of people who can play there is currently 5! See below Nils Gerrbrand Sheehan Tiatto Maybury
supedaj Posted 14 July 2005 Posted 14 July 2005 Well Tiatto is LB originally? Even so, I dont think it matters really. If we get a dedicated left back in - one of Nils/Gerbrand wil be frutrated at signing for leicester but being consigned to the bench. If Wilcox does very well (and its not impossible!), I could see him take left midfield - and Tiatto would have to move to LB maybe (cant see CL dropping him due to his work rate really).. Thoughts?
Libertine Posted 14 July 2005 Posted 14 July 2005 Really do NOT want to see Tiatto at LB again.... Gerrbrand will play there probably.
Cal Posted 14 July 2005 Posted 14 July 2005 does anybody know if this match is going to be on the radio? 137690 Yea anyone know if its on the radio?
supedaj Posted 14 July 2005 Posted 14 July 2005 Why do you think Tiatto no good at LB? Personally I think he's better placed in defence than left midfield. We need some heart in the defence and he'd provide it, as long as he cuts out silly mistakes. I really think the left midfield should be for someone with pace, and someone with a good left foot/cross - and Tiatto has neither of them. ....Bring back Steve Guppy! ;o)

I agree with your points about him at LW though.
supedaj Posted 14 July 2005 Posted 14 July 2005 yep re: Guppy - i meant the Guppy we had under MON, not the one MA took a gamble on.. Bring back Thatcher! Bring back Mike Whitlow Bring back Stewart! Err maybe not ;o)

Ricey Posted 14 July 2005 Author Posted 14 July 2005 barcelona was last season. 138041 Barcelona wasn't last season, it was the season before. Anyway Bodo Glimt are hardly Barca.
gurkbasurken Posted 14 July 2005 Posted 14 July 2005 Really do NOT want to see Tiatto at LB again....Gerrbrand will play there probably. 137974 I don't think Gerrbrand will play left back, he CAN do it, but he's definitely much better as CB. In Hammarby he has mostly played in the center. I think Nisse is a better alternative in that case... /g
Mark Posted 14 July 2005 Posted 14 July 2005 Latest score: Bodo Glimt 0-3 Leicester City Connolly 25, de Vries 38, 40
PRIOR09 Posted 14 July 2005 Posted 14 July 2005 Does anyone know how many fans have gone 2 support the lads in Norway?
