What are the best stores in and around leicester for vinyl records? And the best online stores too?

Nottingham has a couple of great shops the music exchange is a fantastic little place, rough trade have just opened a big shop just around the corner.

Online places I use

Rough trade

Banquet records

Picadilly records

Phonica records

The music exchange

Bleep

Always try the labels themselves eg ninja tune

Or for me as a last resort Amazon

Thanks mate, looking to pick up a few Marvin Gaye records, and D'Angelos first 2. Where would be best to get them?

Marvin will be easy you would probably be able to pick up lets get it on and what's going on in HMV leicester D'Angelo would be much tougher I reckon, doubt they would have been reissued and you would be looking at some extremely expensive second hand copies.

Discogs if your after D'angelo http://www.discogs.com/DAngelo-Voodoo/release/992723 stick to EU countries else you'll get hit by import duties. you'll be lucky to find it in record shops, although I think Voodoo was reissued last year.

Can't find any for sale for brown sugar (except a test pressing for £150) http://www.discogs.com/DAngelo-Brown-Sugar/release/439119 but if you register then put it into your wants list you will get a email when someone has it up for sale.

Rockaboom and HMV should stock back to black reissues of Marvin Gaye, at least they did for what's going on which I assume is the one you're after?

Good luck, happy hunting

Cheers mate, I know D'Angelo's latest album comes out on vinyl next month but I was hoping to pick up the first 2 beforehand.

My girlfriends dad let me go through his old record collection from when he was a youth this week, got about half way through so far and bagged myself some Sade, Stevie Wonder, Seal, Prince, James Ingram. Still got his Reggae, dance, funk and disco records to go through

No turning back now Sam, You're in the club (keep an eye on your credit card bill  )

Haha for now im just scooping up freebies from friends and family. Leicester seems pretty poor for buying records unless you like The Beatles, The Smiths or Kasabian (I may be looking in the wrong places though tbf). So until I venture further afield my card is safe.
