mills/beckford

Just a thought but both were/are our highest earners - when mills left we had to pay him compo because he didnt ask to leave the club. This basically means if we were paying him 25k a week for 4 years, and he signs for Bolton on 15k a week. We have to pay him 10k a week for the remainder of his contract. Now, is it the clubs ploy to purposely annoy these high earners so they ask to leave the club and thus not have to pay compo to them. Mills was forced out the squad by Pearson and made to train with the youth team, but this clearly didnt work as we had to pay him money to leave. Beckford was told he would get games when at 10.55pm, when he was in Huddersfield, Pearson stopped the deal. He has since been on the bench every game and doesn't even come on as a sub. It just shows that it's all about money to these players, why would Beckford not ask to leave the club otherwise?

And also how could a player who was made to train with the youth team and stripped of captains armband not ask to leave the club? Its just ridiculous, a player would rather be training with the youth team and not play games rather than try and get his career back on track.

If this were true, don't you think we would have loaned him to Huddersfield then?

I think if Beckford was guilty of a bad attitude he would not be on the bench only a few weeks ago he was starting

It would nice to hear a claim that was actually backed up by some evidence rather than a personal hunch Is it a case of Mills and Beckford came here for money and the other players are here because we're massive?

Apart from maybe liam moore, because he is from the area, i would have thought all the players are here for the money, after all to most of them it is a job and they work for leicester city and don't support leicester in the way fans do.

I imagine it would wind him up even more if the deal got cancelled at the death and was promised game time and then doesn't get it. Also, if Danns doesn't get in the team for the next few months, don't expect him to ask to leave either. All about the pay off !

To be fair you can't really blame them, if my work asked me to move somewhere else to work and expect me to be paid a lot less then I would say no too

That's the point I'm making, if we ask them to leave then we have to pay them compo. The players won't mind if we ask them to leave, but if the player hands in a transfer request or just makes it clear he wants to leave, we pay nothing.

Yeah I know mate its a tough situation really end of the day the owners were happy enough to give them the contacts in the first place so if they have to honour them then it'll be there loss, think we are all still very lost about the impact FFP is having on the finances especially now its been re structured through King Power

It's all about the money (slight alteration to Jessie J's Price Tag number!). Why did Heskey go to Oz to play for their Newcastle side, to ply the dying embers of his trade rather than return to his boyhood club?! Answer = £££££s - or does Emile just like the Southern Hemisphere?!

I think all this about Beckford's 'bad attitude' is just a smokescreen. He seems like most other players.. He likes playing, he likes the fans cheering his name and hes frustrated when he don't play.

I'm convinced that why Pearson doesn't play him is because he simply doesn't think he's much good. And, weighing everything up I have to agree. Beckford was an expensive signing on a big contract and overall has been very very average. I think Pearson would offload him if there was a serious offer for him.

I think Pearson plays those he believes have a future at the club. And this speaks volumes for both Beckford and Danns.

First of all, can you link to somewhere that states that players who leave without asking to get compensated for loss of earnings on their contract to lie tune of the difference in wages. If that was the case Bolton could offer mills a much lower wage knowing we would have to say the difference and therefore mills would get the same amount but Bolton would save money, yes compensation is involved, but I don't believe it is calculated in via way.

I think it gets confused somewhat with loyalty payments which are part of player contracts but become null and void should the player put in an official transfer request. I am sure that is oversimplifying it but I don't think many know the specific details of player contracts as anyone I've ever challenged for evidence of wages, bonuses and clauses always fail to provide anything credible.
