Saxondale Posted 18 October 2012 Posted 18 October 2012 I've never been to hospital. Well, not for myself. Got knocked over by a motorbike when I was about 8, just a few grazes. Was passenger in a dramatic Hollywood-style car accident in the winter of '03/'04, no injuries except minor cuts.

The car rolled down a mountainside and burst into flame as a wheel rolled into the foreground?
21st Century Fox Posted 18 October 2012 Posted 18 October 2012 When I first saw this thread I thought Parafox was a salesman working for a firm of injury lawyers. They don't make 'em like this anymore...
Guest MattP Posted 18 October 2012 Posted 18 October 2012 any particular reason why you always have a go at coppers MattP? have you had a bad experience in the past? Sorry I missed this. Yeah a couple, nothing I'll go too deep into but I had one who openly lied about something I did and tried to press forward with it and get me into a court, fortunately it was never taken further. Another time when younger I took a bit of a beating from a couple of them, that said I deserved that and it did me good long term. I actually drink with a copper sometimes now and really get on well with the local ones here, they are pretty friendly and go out of their way to have a chat with you, completely diffferent to the big city ones I've met who seem to want to wind you up and nick you at any opportunity. Policemen who earn the respect of the people they serve by interacting, being friendly and getting engaged in the public are the among the finest Public servants going. The ones who demand your respect by threatening to arrest you for nothing or using a weapon when you are defenceless to beat it out of you are the worst. Unfortuntely I seem to have encountered both.
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 18 October 2012 Posted 18 October 2012 MattP Sorry to hear you have had negative experiences, I suppose there is good and bad in everyone and every company etc. I have had mixed experiences also and I suppose some of the negative ones I deserved but also some of the positive ones the copper involved seemed to be nicer than nice. overall though mainly positive I have to say, always the odd bad apple though in saying that

Not the only one who as had bad experiences with dodgy police officers, lost a lot of respect for them and would never trust one again. There may be only a few bad apples but it only needs one screwing you over to taint how you view them all since trust is a big thing with the police.

Agree it isn't brilliant at all but one bad experience shouldn't taint things. There are many good coppers and only a few (too many) bad ones

There are many good coppers and only a few (too many) bad ones Think we all know that, problem with the Police Force is I can't think of a single other organisation that could effect you more than meeting that one bad apple, it's bound to shape your opinion of them. If you meet a bad barmaid who has it in for you, you can finish your pint and go to the next pub, if you meet a bad copper who has it in for you then you could end up locked in a cage away from your family and friends for an amount of time, the responsibility of the job is gigantic.
ithuriel Posted 18 October 2012 Posted 18 October 2012 OK, accidents onvolving the emergency services. When i was about eleven there was a housefire, remember running into dense smoke filled stairwell and there being no oxygen, the fire service were excellent. Been in hospital a few times but never travelled in an ambulance, guess i'm kind of lucky considering, ended up sitting on the bonnet of a car that nearly motored me, a few nasty knocks to the head, a good punch to the jaw from a git stealing a leather jacket when i worked security, nearly had my legs crushed between steel bars, a couple of car crashes and my hand being mullered by a circular saw that cuts through hardened steel like a knife through butter, plus a really nasty ankle injury playing footy
Tielemans63 Posted 18 October 2012 Posted 18 October 2012 Does being married count as having 'been in an accident'? Can an accident last for nearly 5 years? Am I entitled to compensation? If so, about 4 and half years of my sex life back should cover it. Love her really

Solicitors for me, after my disaster of a first marriage i was right royally fooked over by a dodgy solicitor and lost not only money but a lot of pride in the process. Yes i know what you mean they(coppers) can influence things dramatically. They have to do a brilliant job 100 per cent of the time, otherwise the one time they get things wrong or act a bit above themselves etc etc then it leaves totally the wrong impression on somebody, forever usually (sadly).
