Euro 2020...

Quite like the idea to be honest. Provided they pick stadiums which are geographically logical for both sets of fans, I can't see anything other than this giving more people an opportunity to go.

I agree. There are many countries that would love to host the tournament but don't have enough grounds. This is a good opportunity to allow them to host a game and let their fans enjoy it. I like the logical geographical idea, so that one group could be played in the British Isles (group matches in Ireland, Wales, Scotland), another group in the low countries (Belgium, Holland), etc.

We talk about the distances of travel, but Europe is not that huge. The distance between the two furthest stadia in Brazil for 2014 world cup is 4,470 km. The distance from London to Rome is 1,859 km, so the insistence of travel being an issue is overblown, because I don't hear anyone shouting for the common fan with regards Brazil 2014..

I agree to a certain extent, it does make me laugh when I read on forums fans trying justify low travelling numbers because its 80 miles away etc....Houston have to sometimes travel over 1000 miles and still turn up...and the closest game is dallas 200+ miles away and thats classed as a derby.

The Euros is fine the way it is IMO, as is the World Cup. The only reason they'd want to change it is for money, which is enough reason not to want change.

I don't know why they're trying to fix something that's not broken, the Euros is great with 16 teams going to one country. This tournament just won't be as special.

But theres only a selective numbers of countries who can host the tournament, at least this gives nations who only have 1 adaquate stadium to experience a major tournament match. I'm sure it will go back to one nation hosting but I kind of like the idea of every now and again opening it up like this.

It is an odd one, I can see what they are trying to do, but I just see it as a logistic nightmare, especially as how are they going to choose which cities to host it, will host countries have to have qualified? Will the host country have home matches, or will you have the potentially ludicrous situation of say England and Ireland and all their fans flying to say Germany to play a match while Poland and Germany and all their fans fly to the UK?

At least if it is in the same country then there are normally decent rail/road links so you can get between the group matches (Ukraine may have been the exception to this).

When it is one country or 2 countries hosting, it is so much easier to police and manage, sort out ticketing and have one governing body in charge of it all.

I just see it creating more problems than it resolves.

If this is a One off or even on a rotation basis I can see the benefits in a way. Involves more nations, great to see a lot of places in a few weeks etc.

However, It yet again shows what UEFA think of the fans, the costs involved will sky rocket, we all know if the Airlines, Hotels etc know there is a demand the prices go up, imagine the short term price spikes for some on these smaller countries and then you may have to travel between 2 or 3 countries, you may need 3 Visas if they are non-EU.

Can we also land the blame for the emissions at UEFA's door not on our national targets for that period of time.

And I've seen people comparing it to the champions league, well not not really as we have home and away ties in the champions league, isn't this what qualifying is for?

And I think once they have involved a few smaller nations using a national stadium once or twice we know that Paris, London, Rome/Milan etc will get used all the while as they have the stadiums that have bigger capacities and top facilities etc to cope and that means more money, look at how much UEFA made from the champions league final at Wembley, with inflated prices, why do you really think it is coming back so quickly.

Wembley is hosting the champions league final again next year. I think it's a shame as I like seeing different cities host it every year.

Apparently the next 3 finals will be Lisbon, Berlin and Milan. Can't argue against them!
