Monk Posted 12 January 2013 Posted 12 January 2013 I didn't really break the bank ? I wanted to go, she wanted to go. Why not. Fair enough. Just seems such a waste.
Webbo Posted 12 January 2013 Posted 12 January 2013 My nephew went to Thailand for 3 weeks last year and one item on the itinerary was a day working in a paddy field. I mean wtf you're supposed to be on holiday? Give me Disneyland any day.
Bayfox Posted 12 January 2013 Posted 12 January 2013 6k fcuk. My daughter wants to go having taken her to eurodisney last year. I best get saving. That would wipe out most of my savings. Mind you i did a 2 island stay in the caribean for 2.5k. Maybe i should just go there for 5weeks instead!!
Kitchandro Posted 12 January 2013 Posted 12 January 2013 Been five times. And loved every single trip there and I would quite happily jump at the chance to go again. We stayed in my uncles Villa in Kissimee that he owns. It's amazing, I'm 18 and I still love visiting Disney and doing the rounds around places such as Sea World and Busch Gardens, Wet 'N Wild and Blizzard Beach. It's usually an expensive holiday, but it's absolutely 100% worth it. This. In fact Orlando is easily my favourite place on earth. I'm 20 and I've also been 5 times. I don't really like those lounge on the beach doing nothing holidays, I much prefer to see and do things. I've never really been a holiday kind of person tbh, everywhere else I've been has just bored me after a while. I think in general though America is my kind of place. A lot of it is pretty fake, but I love the whole atmosphere around Orlando. I last went when I was 18 and I enjoyed that one the most out of all of them. I disagree with the idea it's just a kids holiday, or even just a family holiday. I'd love to keep going for the rest of my life.
Kitchandro Posted 12 January 2013 Posted 12 January 2013 If your kids are older than 9 they'll probably prefer Universal studio to Disney land, having said that it's still worth seeing. Kennedy Space centre is a brilliant day out. You'll pick up coupon books everywhere that have genuine money off offers on a lot of the attraction. 1 of best things for me was being able to eat like a pig everyday for next to nothing. My god they really are generous with the portions aren't they? As for preferring Universal to Disney, I know what you mean as they seem to be more based around thrill rides but for me, Disney will always be superior. They master the 'magic' and atmosphere of making you feel like a kid better. Universal still does it well but not quite on the same scale. Universal went down in my estimations when they got rid of the jaws ride.

Adster Posted 13 January 2013 Posted 13 January 2013 Unfortunately my Aunt is OBSESSED with Harry Potter, we were in Florida at the time of the grand opening of Harry Potter World. We were there queuing before the park had even opened at 6am! I'm not a massive fan but it really was absolutely brilliant. The main attraction also drew the crowds attention from Dragon Challenge (previously named Duelling Dragons) which is one of my favourite rides, so I rid that numerous times in the day. Universal went down in my estimations when they got rid of the jaws ride. I was so angry this ride went!
Alexikokopops Posted 14 January 2013 Posted 14 January 2013 It's probably cheaper to take the whole family on safari, and that would be jaw droppingly impressive for the kids. You say that but when I was 6 I shat myself with excitement. I don't think even a safari would have topped that at that age. If I was 12 or something then maybe. That said, I wouldn't go back now though.

Alexikokopops Posted 15 January 2013 Posted 15 January 2013 Yes but the problem is - I'm a travel snob. To be fair, when Webbo mentioned his nephew working in a paddy field my initial thought was "well that sounds more interesting than sitting on a beach"
Monk Posted 15 January 2013 Posted 15 January 2013 To be fair, when Webbo mentioned his nephew working in a paddy field my initial thought was "well that sounds more interesting than sitting on a beach" Try Florida in the hurricane season - probably a similar effect to standing in a rice field.
manxfox Posted 20 January 2013 Posted 20 January 2013 hire a car, far better than shuttle busses, international drive far to busy, we stayed at holiday inn, kissimmee, old town just across the road. mins from disney, 15-30mins down I 4 to others, word of warning, if you go to one or both universal parks, get a fast pass or you could be waiting upto two hours for the popular rides, been going to fl now for thirty years, top to bottom and atlantic to gulf, now we stay on clearwater beach and if the family are with us we drive down, 90 mins gets you to disney. for me busch gardens is a better day out. dont try to do everything or you will be rocking in a corner stressed out, i did when my kids wre young and three of them pointing in different directions and two having hissy fits when one picked. we going in june, wife does her thing, i go fishing. enjoy it, brill place.
