Inside death row

Watching it now! Certainly an eye opener! Can't believe that guy will spend his whole life in prison for something he did as a messed up 13 year old

Still in a bit of shock that that guy killed at the age of 13 and got 170 years in jail aged 15. What a waste of a life.

American justice system seems über harsh! There's no rehabilitation over there! They just lock em up for a long long time!

That's why their reoffending rate is sky high. It's terribly sad.

This chap seems pretty intelligent and a well rounded individual too (obviously not as he killed 2 people). Mad that he'll know nothing but those 4 walls his whole life.

Incarcerating somebody for the rest of their life for something they do as a child can't be the best way to go surely?

Wouldn't rehabilitation for somebody who, as you say, comes across as an intelligent and decent person who has changed their ways?

Agree! He Did a terrible thing but it shouldn't be game over! Feel sorry for the guy to be honest! Surely he's paid his dues

He's been in prison for 24 years for something he did as a 13 year old boy.

It certainly doesn't sit right with me either.

Aye, tend to agree to be honest. He made a horrible "choice" as a 13 year old and his life effectively ended there and then with this system.

Seems a bit weird that we're all feeling sorry for a murderer though lol.

it's such a tough situation isn't it. In a way I agree but how could you justify that argument to the victims family and if he was released and killed somebody else how would you explain it to their family?

I think law and the justice system is one of the hardest things to sort out

It seems a complete waste as much as anything.

He could have used the education he has obviously received in prison, been properly rehabilitated and been out and contributing to society by now. There's no way he's going to be the same person as a 37 year old as when he was a 13 year old kid.

What he did was obviously appalling and the families of the two women he killed deserved justice, but is justice really taking away a third life? I'm not sure it is.

Agree! Given the right support he seems the kinda guy who could go and make a life for himself on the right track

i missed that bit, what did he do?

Armed robbery then tried to get away but his car wouldn't start, in a panic he jumped in a car with 3 people in it! Didn't do anything to any of them but got 3 counts of kidnapping on top of armed robbery

There were plenty of people who wanted Jamie Bulger's murderers to do'life'.

They were clearly messed up kids and one of them, Jon Venables, clearly always will be a wrong 'un considering he's in prison again for child porn offences. I'd advocate keeping him inside for a very long time because he's proved himself to be a danger as an adult.

Robert Thompson, to the best of the public's knowledge, hasn't reoffended since his release in 2001.
