All I have to say is I'm jealous that you get out 3/4 times a week! That's a dream!

Yeah, it’s been a good summer. Only due to shift work though, not like I’m retired or a lottery winner lol

That's fair enough, even though I have just said what I said, I continue to have lessons and have got pretty good at separating my range stuff and my "medal"/round stuff. I don't practice as much during the summer, but do keep having lessons just to keep in check and also when you spot patterns in round its nice to have that check in with the coach coming in a week or two. Completely understand on the membership side, I hadn't properly considered that when I commented back to you.

I seem to have less and less time to practice these days so I'm taking up putting practice in the house. I can keep the long game fairly easily, but the short game, not so much!

Yeah, it’s definitely lesson (haha) learnt and I’ll be doing things differently next summer.

Ive put 36 cards in so far this year since April at my home course. 🤣🤣

I dread to think how many casual rounds I’ve played too- Easily another 20-30

Absolutely screams ‘single man’ doesn’t it 😆

You play the amount of golf I dream of playing, thats what it screams to me!

Played tonight, 37 (+1) for 9 holes. Had the driver working a dream, the putter not quite so much. It's so firm out there now, I drove the green on 5 and 3 putted for a par, always love doing that.

Keegan Bradley doesn't pick himself for the Ryder Cup. Says he wanted to focus completely on captaining the side.

His 6 captains picks are:

Justin Thomas

Colin Morikawa

Patrick Cantlay

Cameron Young

Ben Griffin

Sam Burns

I honestly can't believe he's not picking himself and to be honest it is the fault of the USGA who have put him in this mess.

He's world number 11, ahead of Cantlay, Burns, Young and Griffin (ignoring BDC as if he was on tour, he'd be top 3 IMO) and ahead of Young, Cantlay and Burns in the US Ryder Cup standings.

I feel this has come about as a result of being humiliated in the Netflix Full Swing documentary. They publicly humiliated him, tried to appease him by giving him the captaincy and it has backfired massively by now not having a player on the team who should be there.

If I was him, I would've picked myself, got the vice captains to do more legwork and stuck two fingers up at the USGA for the mess.

How do I stop slicing my bloody Driver?!  it's now at a point it's become a hazard to the general public lol. I was hooking it a couple of years ago and had a lesson which sorted it out for a while but now it's completely the opposite and I don't see what im doing differently

Stating the obvious, the main reason is leaving the club face open at impact.

Unfortunately there are many things that can cause this, from improper rotation in the backswing, to wrist angles on the downswing, or club path being way too far over the top. Or any combination thereof.

Only a coach will be able to identify the mains reasons in your case. Can you recall what helped last time?

Whatever you do, don't spend a month watching dozens of guru's on YouTube and hoping that will cure it

Like Bear says, go see a coach/pro and have a few lessons. They'll give you a couple of drills to practice and hopefully fix it.

It was changing my grip that helped last time. I thought I'd cracked it a couple of months ago, strangely opening up the face more when lining it up helped and also lowering my right shoulder. Such a frustration because it feels like im doing nothing differently.

Im too stubborn to tee off with irons also!

Yeah I've muddled my brain watching numerous videos on this and they all seem to contradict each other lol

A stronger left hand grip will certainly help, as will making sure your shoulders and hips aren't open and pointing left at address.

I hate this game.

I think we all have a love/hate relationship with this great game.

I've only played once in over two months due to moving house and was feeling a bit over golfed anyway so needed a break.

Went out on Thursday with the lads for the first time in a while with zero expectations.

Shot 9 over gross playing off 9.5 h'cap and really enjoyed it. 9 pars and 9 bogies, dead steady.

I think the trick was that I wasn't thinking about golf or my swing. Just catching up with the boys and enjoying the sunshine.

Half the battle with golf is just getting out of our own way I reckon....

Yeah, but when you’re in a deep rut you feel you need to be thinking about your swing

Case in point today- 2nd hole at Longcliffe, found the fairway off the tee. 160 yards into wind to centre of the green. I opt to play it safe and take PW to lay up of the ditch. Balls below your feet on this shot. Shanked it into the rough towards the 18th fairway. Absolutely shambolic. Compounded the error by being too greedy on the next 2 shots. Walked off with a 7.

Id have been better off throwing cation to the wind and going for the green in 2

I absolutely love the game.. but it sure is a test.

Tuesday I played great, drove it unbelievably well, as well as I can remember for a long time.

Comes to Saturday, medal card in hand, took 3 to get out of a bunker, made 8. Hit 3 tee shots off the 4th, only to find the first and make double bogey anyway. Topped it off a tee, then proceeded to whack it out of bounds. Genuinely it was as bad as I can remember playing since I was a junior 18 years ago.

And yes, you bet I can't wait to play tomorrow and right all them wrongs!

I'm playing Lingdale this Sunday. I assume at least one or two of you will have played it before? The lads I'm going with have and said it's decent but it's my first visit.

Shame it's probably gonna be a bit rainy this weekend.
