Captain... Posted 8 March 2013 Posted 8 March 2013 Phew. I'm glad NP has shifted them on permanently and not brought in any replacements who would be drawing a wage. Ah. So you don't think that experienced premiership players like Ball and Paintsil were on prem wages to do fvck all? Or Johnson and Fernandes, we all know Beckford and Danns were offered big contracts to sign. Any other massive wastes of money? Oh yeah Matt Mills bet we offered him peanuts after signing him for 5 million. They have been replaced with younger players at the start of their careers and will be on salaries to match.
seenitall Posted 8 March 2013 Posted 8 March 2013 RDL, Marshall, Drinkwater, Knockeart, just about all his signings... hell even old man Morgan Arrived as a bunch of £1m men having been bitting & bobbing around Premiership benches or on loan elsewhere... whilst now they've played the majority of the time & a year further along in their progression with room still to progress more... and formed the bulk of a team at the top end of the Championship. anyway, nice to see you back posting again. Must have been tough for 90% of the season. See my other reply to you - it has been tough - I have been busy as well but today is one of those days where I can enjoy the light hearted banter that is FT - I do miss it PS - I would be surprised if any of them was worth much more than £1m still if that, including Knocky who cost a shit load more

Most people don't subscribe to the foxestalk philosophy of the less a player plays for us the better they get.
5waller5 Posted 8 March 2013 Posted 8 March 2013 Yes it has nothing to do with the fact that the figures have just been released, I bet he was asked about the Sheff Wednesday game, and decided to talk about the finances, probably with a sneer and a look of disgust at the poor journalist who asked him the question. That bit i can imagine!!!! I wonder if Stringer has been tipping off the sun!!??
Babylon Posted 8 March 2013 Posted 8 March 2013 Pearson was in charge for half of the 11/12 financial year and I'm sure the majority of Sven's spending didn't take place in his final few months Eh... you mean like Mills, Beckford, Peltier, SSL, Kasper, Ball, Johnson, Fernandez, Pansil, Konchesky, Danns, Nugent.
seenitall Posted 8 March 2013 Posted 8 March 2013 Eh... you mean like Mills, Beckford, Peltier, SSL, Kasper, Ball, Johnson, Fernandez, Pansil, Konchesky, Danns, Nugent. God that looks like a great team - wish we had all them players
Babylon Posted 8 March 2013 Posted 8 March 2013 God that looks like a great team - wish we had all them players Damn right, get them all back and storm to 13th.
Guest BlueBrett Posted 8 March 2013 Posted 8 March 2013 Eh... you mean like Mills, Beckford, Peltier, SSL, Kasper, Ball, Johnson, Fernandez, Pansil, Konchesky, Danns, Nugent. yeah I looked it up too and realised I was mistaken. He sure burned through some cash in June-July 2011!
Manwell Pablo Posted 8 March 2013 Posted 8 March 2013 Damn right, get them all back and storm to 13th. To be fair I'd pay £25 quid to watch Johnson trundle around a football pitch now, it'd be hilarious.
Babylon Posted 8 March 2013 Posted 8 March 2013 yeah I looked it up too and realised I was mistaken. He sure burned through some cash in June-July 2011! Not forgetting the huge contracts he handed out to Dyer, King, Wellens, Gallagher and Schlupp.
Guest Col city fan Posted 8 March 2013 Posted 8 March 2013 Like I think you said the other day pal. Some on here didn't want Pearson back, their minds were made up ages ago, and just looking for an excuse to moan at him. People are judging the success of the season 13 games from the end. The season has finished, so he's not failed. This place is an absolute joke at times. Cut and paste..
Basingstoke Fox Posted 8 March 2013 Posted 8 March 2013 Not forgetting the huge contracts he handed out to Dyer, King, Wellens, Gallagher and Schlupp. Exactly. Yet it's Pearsons fault that Gallagher and Wellens are still at the club apparently..
Guest Col city fan Posted 8 March 2013 Posted 8 March 2013 To be fair I'd pay £25 quid to watch Johnson trundle around a football pitch now, it'd be hilarious. Why pay... You can get it for free on your local park every Sunday morning. Weather and availability of refs permitting..
dynamark Posted 8 March 2013 Posted 8 March 2013 Been said before but Sven wasnt signing the cheques,he dragged us out of the mire we were in,and it was quite enjoyable watching the likes of Naughton, Cunningham ,Van Anholt, alright probably not sustainable but the owners make the financial decisions ultimately.certainly didnt let millions be spent without giving consent. I remember the Millwall home game when his time came to an end(13th and 2 points off top six?)be interesting to see the reactiin in say 4 games if we are in the same position. For his failings people wanted to play for him he had a fantastic phone book and knew how to be engaging and polite with fans and media.
Babylon Posted 8 March 2013 Posted 8 March 2013 be interesting to see the reactiin in say 4 games if we are in the same position. I think it's impossible to be 13th even if we lost all 4. For his failings people wanted to play for him You mean they wanted to receive the huge wages... for all his bluster about the phone book we mostly signed a load of shit. He lived off name dropping Beckham every two weeks.
flowwolf Posted 8 March 2013 Posted 8 March 2013 Here is a man who feels qualified to speak out on financial matters related to the club but can barely string a sentence together when it comes to explaining why his team has turned to shit. :D
flowwolf Posted 8 March 2013 Posted 8 March 2013 sounds like a "dont sack me" plea to me The words deaf and ears spring to mind. P 45 in the post.
jamesmilner Posted 8 March 2013 Posted 8 March 2013 its not the right time for pearson to talk . he needs to shh and keep his mind on football ! we will be back at square one if he is sacked . thats a bleak not bright future . and i dont believe sweet fa at the mo , but the sun rumour ? no smoke without fire and a bit worrying ?
Blueforever Posted 8 March 2013 Posted 8 March 2013 It would be looking a lot brighter if he had the ability to get us in the Premier League I suggest
dynamark Posted 8 March 2013 Posted 8 March 2013 happy to acknowledge it wasnt sustainable under sven but not a total disaster in results and entertainement terms. In business terms the team manager is several layers down and most of us have no concept of the numbers/potential dosh involved.I was given a ridiculous figure recently about shirt sales in asia phenominal. Just like to see a good perforamance and 3 points tomorrow
