Brazil World Cup 2014 - Travel Chat

Got my confirmation email through last week, looks like i'm off too!

Applied for a couple of tickets for to follow Iran - seems like a smart move as not many people will applied for them...

Have all 3 group games, then following the winner of the group into the last 16, the winner in the quarters, the winner in the semis and bloody final tickets!!! Still buzzing from it. Just can't wait for the draw to see who we will be watching!

Won't you only get the knockout tickets if Iran actually make it that far?!

Or did you apply separately for the knock-outs? Because my understanding is that FIFA would not allocate 2,500 tickets to 32 sets of 'fans' for the round of 16, quarters, semis and final etc. There just isn't room in all of the stadiums.

That's a cunning ploy! Are you sure that your tickets at the knock-out stage aren't dependent on Iran progressing, or did you order them separately?

Sadly, looks like I'm bottling out of going to Brazil 2014. Couldn't justify the financial outlay, even assuming that I could have got it together.....France 2016 and a trip to Brazil some other time, then!

I trust that you and others attending Brazil 2014 will send regular posts to make us all jealous!

We'll be having too good a time in Brazil to be bothering with Foxestalk! :P

To quote the confirmation email:

TSTs are Ticket strips to follow such matches of your chosen national team as indicated in the product table above. This means that you have been allocated a Ticket for each of the three group stage Matches , one Round of 16 Match, one Quarter Final Match, one Semi Final Match and the Final to be played by your chosen national team (if qualified.)

If your chosen national team is eliminated and your TST includes rounds after your team has been eliminated, your TST will remain valid for such round or rounds comprised to follow the team that progresses into the next round or rounds of the Competition. This means that:

In case your chosen national team is eliminated in the Group Matches, your TST will be valid for the Round of 16 Match of the winner of the group of your team.

In case your chosen national team is eliminated in a later round of the Competition, your TST will be valid for the Match of the winner of the respective Match up to the last round comprised in your TST product.

In case your chosen national team loses the Semi-Finals and plays the Third/Fourth-Place Match, your TST will be valid for the Final, as your chosen team will be treated as being eliminated from the Competition. Your TST will not be valid for the Third/Fourth-Place Match.

Well, come next summer, if you fall into the Amazon and are getting eaten by crocodiles and piranhas, don't go coming on here looking for any sympathy!  lol

Your email sounds pretty unequivocal. Well done for spotting a good way in.

I wonder how it'll work in practice? Those, like you, who want to stay for the duration regardless will be fine, but what about those who only want to follow their team? Can imagine a lot of those tickets ending up in the hands of touts...

Also bizarre what they're doing re. the 3rd place play-off. Obviously, Iran won't be there anyway, but what if Germany, Argentina, Brazil or whoever ends up in the 3rd place play-off....are they really going to prevent their fans from attending and "force" them to attend the final instead - at the expense of fans of countries that have made the final?!

We didn't get an option to post the tickets out so hopefully this will reduce the number of touts. We have to pick them up from the stadium the day before the match. The major downside with this ticket is until the draw is made, I've no idea where to book my flights to as I won't have any spare time to travel before due to limited time off work. There are plenty of direct flights from NY/Miami to the major cities so just need to find out where we will be playing... and fingers crossed from a decent set of big guns in the group :D

I think that means that if your team gets eliminated in the group stage then you get a round of 16 ticket. They can do that because they have already set aside x amount of tickets for that match. Your team does not then become the team that has won your group and got to the round of 16, it remains as Iran (i.e. you won't get any further tickets in the tournament)

If Iran get to the round of 16 and lose there then you will get a ticket for the QF, if they get to the QF and lose you'll get one for the SF etc. Basically, you get one round past the round your team gets eliminated for the team that knocks you out. Otherwise there would be an ever-growing pool of fans following teams that they have no association to.

That's my interpretation of those Ts & Cs though...

How much money have you paid out at this point?

If anyone has 2x TST7/FTST7 Tickets for sale please let me know, I know someone willing to pay more than face value for these tickets.

It is for every match up to and including the Final. The ticket type is TST7 is you want to read up about it (points 10 and 13): http://www.fifa.com/mm/document/tournament/ticketing/02/15/43/31/ticketproducts_neutral.pdf

Mixture of hotels/hostels/apartments really but we've got 31 out of 36 nights that we're in Brazil already booked so we've done quite well. We planned early and are pretty much at the point now of just trying to get a few more tickets and saving our spending money.

We've got:

Match 7 (Fortaleza) 17/06

Match 22 (Natal) 19/06

Match 39 (Natal) 24/06

Match 45 (Recife) 26/06

Seems that tickets for some of the group games might not have been too hard to come by.

How much did you get your flight for?

Just to warn you, accommodation in Recife looks scarce in terms of budget options. Lots of hotels but not many hostels etc.

Flight out was £770. Flight back from São Paulo via Morocco on the 27th was only £450! Absolute bargain.

Booked all my accommodation and internal flights now (including a few days down at Iguassu Falls). Everything including tickets has totaled just under £3,100 which is a bit less than I was expecting.

Decent that.

When you look back on it, it'll be something you never forget and in the grand scheme of things, what is £3,000. You can always earn more.
