ousefox Posted 13 March 2013 Posted 13 March 2013 I know it's still early, but me and a couple of mates have decided we're going ot try and go. Going to be pricey but it's a once in a lifetime opportunity. We'll be 19/20 at the time too so a good age to go with the lads. None of us have ever been to a tournament before so wondering if anybody had any advice with tickets, travel, accomodation etc? Just hope England get there!
Leicesterpool Posted 13 March 2013 Posted 13 March 2013 Good luck mate, actually myself I'm planning on going to the 2016 European championships in France if England qualify as it will be nearest any tournament will get to England. This is just thought but what if there was a rival football organisation in which formed there own rules and own world cup, be good to see a rival to fifa.
Kitchandro Posted 13 March 2013 Posted 13 March 2013 It certainly is a once in a lifetime opportunity judging by the locations of the two following World Cups. Brazil should be the last decent one we see for a while, the South America and Western Europe ones are far superior to the rest. Qatar and Russia will be new lows though. I remember around the time of Germany 06 I was 14 and me and my mate promised each other that we'd make it to South Africa 2010. We were adamant, and planned to sign a contract in blood it never worked out. And tbh in hindsight I'm glad. Reminds me of a story my dad told me about him when he was a similar age and he and his mate planned to bike it to Spain 82
ScouseFox Posted 13 March 2013 Posted 13 March 2013 Pretty sure most people our age have thought about it and discussed it down the pub but not a chance financially. France 2016 will be a right laugh if it goes to plan though. I should spend the 2015/16 Uni year in France if I go, so will be sick if everyone then joined me out there for the Euros.

Yeah, it'll be pretty pricey, flights at the moment this june are 500 quid so don't know whether they'll add another 50% on that or double it. We'll hopefully go in a group of 4, at least 3, so think our best bet is to use Rio as a base and rent an apartment for 3 weeks/ a month. Will be cheaper than hotels. Brazil is huge so doubt we'd follow England everywhere but Sao Paulo and Brassilia are accessable from Rio so there will be a fair chance we'll definitely see at least one, probably more. Agree about it being the last decent WC venue for a while too, can't imagine how shit Russia and Quatar will be. France will be quality though- can see half of England going so everyone will struggle with tickets.
Uncle Albert Posted 13 March 2013 Posted 13 March 2013 I'd love to go, doubt I'll go but you never know.
VLC86 Posted 20 March 2013 Posted 20 March 2013 I went to Ukraine and got lucky booking tickets through UEFA in advance but I wouldn't recommend this as its highly unlikely you will end up with England tickets. I would say join the England Fans club, go to the home matches and you may get lucky that not that many England Fans will go. If you aren't too fused with getting England tickets but want to go anyway, apply on FIFAs website when the system goes live and enjoy whoever you get to see. Either way it will be an amazing experience, Ukraine was incredible!
Hollism Posted 22 March 2013 Posted 22 March 2013 Had intended to miss brazil and go to the Euro's 2016, what with Brazil being the other side of the planet and expensive, Russia and Qatar destined to be shite, and the 2020 Euros will bering a new definition to the phrase 'not thought through'. But I've realised that I've not had a holiday in bloody ages so I really want to go to Brazil now. Go for at least four weeks and properly get into it. I'm not a big England fan, just Leicester and whatever international teams Leicester players are representing. Will have to talk to some mates and get it sorted
MC Prussian Posted 27 May 2013 Posted 27 May 2013 Looks like we've got our first construction scandal surrounding the World Cup venues: http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/news/football-rain-damages-brazil-stadium-weeks-soccer-confederations-183035118.html
Kitchandro Posted 27 May 2013 Posted 27 May 2013 What was all that stuff about Romario leading a protest against all the money Brazil are handing out to FIFA and spending on the stadiums? I was expecting to see a thread about that on here but couldn't find one.
Leicesterpool Posted 27 May 2013 Posted 27 May 2013 Maybe a few years away but if England do qualify for the 2016, then maybe Leicester could arrange something, Leicester could lay on transport for fans to take them over on the coach and ferry. Dropping them of in the city of where England are playing or some sort of tour, maybe accommodation could be tents. I don't know something along those lines.

SOCCERROO FOX Posted 29 May 2013 Posted 29 May 2013 You have to do a World Cup in your life time, biggest party/sporting event imaginable.
OzFox Posted 4 June 2013 Posted 4 June 2013 You have to do a World Cup in your life time, biggest party/sporting event imaginable. Agreed. Did '94 and '98. Loved every minute of it. Big game for the Aussies tonight, away at Japan. Can't see them winning it but a point would be handy
Amin Posted 4 June 2013 Posted 4 June 2013 I would love to see Jordan qualify but I don't think Australia are going to lose to them twice.

Our goal was the best cross i've ever seen I would love to see Jordan qualify but I don't think Australia are going to lose to them twice. They can finish 3rd and still have a chance, they would play the 3rd from the other asian group over 2 legs and then 5th in South America over 2 legs.

No one wants the play off with the fifth in SA, looking likely it could be a side like Uruguay this time around.

Been there done that when we were in Oceania, we got stuck playing Uruguay twice. Thankfully we beat them in 2005 on penalties which is probably my favourite ever moment following Australian footballing moment, the commentary gives me shivers still and will go down as the best most biased commentary ever and rightly so it broke a 32 year drought. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4x1UPNi0bUQ
Jordan Posted 4 June 2013 Posted 4 June 2013 Jamaica vs Mexico tonight. Mexico are in a tough spot because they started off the final round of qualifying slowly, and they have a lot on their plate right now with WCQs, Confederations Cup, and the 2013 CONCACAF Gold Cup. They're under serious pressure from fans and especially the media at home, who always hold the team to a high standard. Everything I've seen or read from the Mexican media is only about "tres puntos," but that's never a given at The Office in Kingston, where the "carpeting" (to continue the metaphor) is always in disrepair. Jamaica had tried really hard to get Wes Morgan to commit to playing for them, and apparently they tried to rush in all the requisite paperwork for this before last weekend, but could get neither done.

Yeah, the goal was a bit jammy and the penalty was unfortunate. Thought the Aussies played quite well though...very open game in the first half. Might get me a ticket for the Jordan game next week...it's starting to look quite interesting

Australia were superb that night, and I don't think I've ever heard a roar like that in a stadium...made the hair stand up on the back of your neck What made it even funnier was me and the wife were seated right in front of the Uruguayan delegation, including Gus Poyet
