Real lack of pace in the side?

Recommended Posts

The only time we looked good today was when Schlupp came on and troubled them with his pace and directness, have we been missing that for the last couple of months? Is there enough pace in the side?

Schlupp should be starting looks dangerous and I would be shocked if he doesn't play against Millwall...

Even Schlupp's not been inspired by Pearson - he'd been sidelined for weeks and not used at all. He's had his confidence lifted by having the best team in the land take notice. In fact it's almost as if he's been forced back into the City side either by united wanting him to be involved or by us realising what fools we've been.

I agree, the only pace we really have down the right is DeLaet. If we had a winger it would help even if he was a squad player, for a plan b. Opposition teams can see all our attacking pace is left-sided.

We've got enough pace to beat Championship sides but there's insufficient support for pace when we play 4-3-3 anyway and especially with having slow central midfielders, one slow main striker and only one attack-capable full-back. And that's just the start of it.

There's been a lack of pace in City for years. Our only two fast players, Dyer and Schlupp, frequently get past players only yot find no on has kept up with them and their crosses are to no effect, making them look worse than they actually are.

Don't think pace is all the problem, I think predictability is, we have good footballers at the club but teams know are style and are finding it very easy to stop us, the result is the long ball crap we keep serving up, which is all well and good if you have the players for this style, we don't have one forward or midfielder who is competitive in the air.

I think it's more about the lack of pace with which we move the ball than the pace with which individual players move. I think it's also more to do with a lack of speed of thought than of body.
