Tuna Posted 27 March 2013 Posted 27 March 2013 http://nonleague.pitchero.com/news/ex-arsenal-defender-joins-magpies-21145/ No, not Notts County, he has signed for Conference South Maidenhead United. As I recall, he was quite good for us in the League 1 capaign, how does he end up here at 26???
Kitchandro Posted 27 March 2013 Posted 27 March 2013 I never rated him for us. Still, he had some pace I think so I'm surprised he hasn't made it at league level.
Dan Posted 27 March 2013 Posted 27 March 2013 Lack of determination. Thought he wasn't terrible but he seems shite compared to the likes of De Laet & Naughton.
Soar Fox Posted 27 March 2013 Posted 27 March 2013 Lack of determination. Thought he wasn't terrible but he seems shite compared to the likes of De Laet & Naughton. But considerably better than Ryan McGivern.

Lots of pace but he seemed to have trouble with the football part of his game...controlling, passing, shooting etc. Even his one "goal" for us was headed in by an opposition defender
foxesfan1989 Posted 27 March 2013 Posted 27 March 2013 ex-champions league playing according to Wikipedia...ouch
Webbo Posted 27 March 2013 Posted 27 March 2013 As I remember I rated him at the time. What do I know?
StanSP Posted 27 March 2013 Posted 27 March 2013 Heard he got in with the wrong crowd and lifestyle changed, restricting opportunities for himself.
Fox92 Posted 27 March 2013 Posted 27 March 2013 Never rated him that much. I also heard he got involved in something but can't remember what.
AyewJoking Posted 27 March 2013 Posted 27 March 2013 sign him up, its about time we took a gamble on a player from non league football.
Jordan Posted 27 March 2013 Posted 27 March 2013 Haha, Maidenhead United, they would be my favorite non-league team! York Road looks like your typical non-league ground, but it's actually the oldest continually-used football ground in the world. It's had countless right backs play on it since 1876 or so, but I'm sure none of them got there from a career path quite like Gilbert's.
Father Ted Posted 27 March 2013 Posted 27 March 2013 He was always solid for us, quick and decent positionally, just not too good with the ball at his feet.
