Job Agencies

Anybody know of any decent agencies in leicester?

Currently with Barker Ross but I'm only getting 2 days work a week.

Mainly looking for the warehouse sector but will do other things.

Thanks

Are Protemps still around? My experience of agencies is that they are good when you're desperate for work, but expect to work for them, rather than them working for you (in terms of actually looking for a job you're suited to. As long as they have all the available jobs filled I really don't think they care too much about who's doing what.

Yeah I'm experiencing that at the moment. Utterly useless the one I'm with at the moment. Just wondering if they're all the same. Sooo desperate for work! Maybe that is coming across a bit too much

I run an agency up in Wakefield (bit far for you probably) but my advice would be to sign up with 3 or 4 to keep your options open. Better to be turning work down than not working at all.

Also, some of the big high street agencies have so many people on the books that they will probably have no idea who you are. Try and find a few smaller independent agencies, they're more likely to remember you and keep you busy if you're any good.

Be as flexible as possible, be willing to do whatever they ask and they should look after you (if they are any good!)

Good luck fella!

Encore on Millstone Lane should still be about. Got warehouse/factory work with them regularly for two summers, and they pretty much always had something available. A lot of them were full five day weeks for as long as they needed me.

BlueArrow headhunted me and got me a new job last year. Recently completed my three month probation and got taken on permanently in the role. Was always wary of agencies as in the ad it sort of seems "too good to be true" but at the end of the day it worked well and its just the way things are done now. Less risk for a company taking on potential employees to have then through a third party for a short period

warehouse mainly but open to most things. Have a counterbalance FLT licence

If you have a car or are willing to take public transport then you're changes go up significantly because there are a number of places just out of the city that always need people (thinking Magna Park in Lutterworth, etc).

For those type of recruitment agencies mid week is their quiet time so call up Tues or Weds and ask to go in and register with as many as you can and then hound them on Thursdays and Fridays when they get their shifts in for the next week. As soon as you're in for a couple of weeks they'll usually stick you in as a regular for that company.

I'd give Manpower a go - that's who I used to work for and that's certainly how it worked.

Also, with the national/international agencies they often have larger clients and more chance of being taken on perm if that's what you're looking for

Ok thanks!

I don't have a car but I'm willing travel. Places like magna park are a bit awkward to get to and from with shift work times.
