Portsmouth Cardiff .. who would you rather be ?

I would honestly rather play in league 2 then be playing in red. Their owner basically changed their club to achieve it.

I agree

Our first ever kit wasnt blue.......and we werent called Leicester City

I wouldn't mind who I supported, just as long as I'd always supported them. I'd like to think I would support whoever I grew up with through thick and thin, regardless of what league they were in, who owned the club, what colour they played in. Yes if we changed identity it would annoy me, but I would still support the club. The only constant at a football club is the fans; owners come and go and clubs go through identity changes (name changes, stadium changes), but the fans should always remain.

I do think Cardiff have somewhat 'sold out' but the fans haven't chosen for them to do so, and if we did the same I'd still be a fan. So in that regard I wouldn't rather by a fan of either, I would rather support Leicester City as that's who I've grown up with.

Cardiff. They changed their kit and badge, big whoop. People bang on about Leeds as if they're some footballing Goliath but they've done both of those things.

I'd rather support Shepshed Dynamo than MK Dons, who bought themselves a league position, but Cardiff are just Cardiff. Same fans, same city, same ground, same memories.

You could call us Leicester Foxes, Leicester Fosse, whatever. Play is in green, red, yellow, I don't care. I'd still remember Muzzy's overhead kick, Heskey's equalizer at Wembley, Coatsworth against Luton. A club is the people, the city, the history.

The rest is just aesthetic. I've had this argument numerous times and I know I'm in the minority, given up trying to convince anyone. I know I'm supposed to be appalled and to get upset about "modern football" and to wank off over camp tifo displays and any club from somewhere vaguely exotic waving a flare but I just don't feel it.

If LCFC price me out, I'll be angry. If the owners rinse us to get rich and leave us bankrupt, I'll be angry. But anyone who'd stop going PURELY because of a change to kit colour? I'm going to use a phrase the cool kids like.... You're not a real fan.

It's not the same as changing the name to Fosse or Leicester Foxes... They've completly changed indentity. They we're known as the blue birds and always were. Now they're the "Red Dragons" (Would be official if some of the fans who do give two shits didn't purchase the naming right to Cardiff Dragons). As you know a lot of our fans want us to have a red kit, as I do, but I don't want to change our identity to a red team and move away from Foxes. I certainly would do the same as the man who wrote the original article. As a number of people have pointed our Porstmouth were not so long ago lapping up the joys a foreign owner can bring and just look at them now. Swansea are the ideal model and all clubs should be ran for the fans BY the fan. It is not all about the Prem...

Finners I agree..I've just caught up with the rest of the thread and I agree that a shirt change doesn't make them souless or any different. And that a club that has had investment doesn't make them any different. Wigan are a small club wiht investment it doesn't make them tinpot.

BUT, the point is they haven't just changed shirt they changed identity! The club owner clearly said he wanted to change the clubs name too. The debate is more wether you'd like to get to the prem with a massive injection of cash from one man who doesn't care about the fans or city or wether you'd take mediocrity to be a fans club, owned by the people who love the club and a chance to work your way up properly. You seem to be missing the point saying how you'd rather support Cardiff because you're welsh!

Funny how the forum members agree with you are Walkers who last time I checked hadn't been to a Leicester game & Milktry who rarely attends our games either

As a cardiff fan i'd be interested to hear the people in this threads situations.

What would you have done in our position? Just trawling through this forum every week Leicester fans bemoan every loss they have because they are further and further away from promotion. I couldnt see alot of them sticking around for league 2 football.

The colour change happened... no1 saw it coming. I dont mind being teased about it at the end of the day its banter.. what i do mind is fans getting on their high horse acting like they wouldve done something different in our position?

Just a massive FYI our nickname hasnt changed we are still the bluebirds and the bluebird remains on our badge so this cardiff dragons BS is all hearsay.

We wouldve gone one way or the other... gone red and have a club to watch week in week out with your mates. As most of you will agree football is a social activity to go to with the lads for a few drinks, laughs and time away from the ball and chain... thats what it boils down to for most people.

The other route was the very real possibility of liquidation with our debt levels.

I am no pro red i will never buy red merchandise etc etc, But that doesnt mean i will stop supporting my team.... who loses out then? Me! If i cancel my ticket they will have sold it to someone else that same day. No attention will be paid to it and im stuck in on a saturday doing the hoovering and whatever else or visiting some crazy aunty/uncle.

So what would you lot have done?

Most hypocritical responses I have ever read. We sold our stadium name and are foreign owned.

No offence people, but would you swap our current situation with Portsmouth, as it mounts to the same thing.
