Mike the Metal Ed Posted 20 April 2013 Posted 20 April 2013 'Banter'? No, banter would imply wit, not much on show there. A bit needless? I'd say so. A major problem? Not really, it's not the worst thing to be called.
Haydos Posted 20 April 2013 Posted 20 April 2013 How have we got to a point where calling a fat person 'fat' is considered banter. It's embarrassing. If you're going call someone names like you're at school at least make it funny.
ruisliptiger Posted 21 April 2013 Posted 21 April 2013 There is in Hull that's for sure! Finished Admission Episodes with a primary diagnosis of obesity, by Strategic Health Authority (SHA) per 100,000 of population 2011/12 Hull PCT = 2 Leicester City PCT = 10
Blanesta Posted 21 April 2013 Posted 21 April 2013 The people that moan about this are also the people that moan about someone being in 'their' seat, and standing when it clearly says no persistent standing. Moaning bastards. It would of spurred me to do it more It's funny seeing you moan about the moaners!
The Year Of The Fox Posted 21 April 2013 Posted 21 April 2013 If I was fat id be running round the pitch. Several times
Guest Col city fan Posted 21 April 2013 Posted 21 April 2013 The old bird who used to walk around the filbo pitch before the match selling program's got "get your tits out" constantly and took it like a champ. I imagine everyone (apart from me) would have regretted singing that if she had just suddenly flopped them out one day.
paulsherwood1 Posted 21 April 2013 Posted 21 April 2013 I can't believe this is even a thread!!! It's football banter FFS! It's part of what makes following your team away from home so good! I can remember playing away at qpr and we were chanting to Andy Impey ( playing for them ) every time he came near us. " Impey has got no neck" and "There's only one Gladstone small" When Impey slid in near us we gave him it full blast, he smiled, pointed to his neck and showed us two fingers ( no, not those two! ) saying there were two Gladstone smalls. He was laughing, we all clapped him and chanted his name. It's called banter!
davieG Posted 21 April 2013 Posted 21 April 2013 It's embarrassingly unoriginal and was probably funny for a season 20 years ago surely we've moved on from it?
turkish14 Posted 21 April 2013 Posted 21 April 2013 Totally different to racism or "gingerism" imo......you can't help your genes but being fat is a lifestyle choice. I am fat because I really like food (and I mean REALLY love food) and hate exercise with a passion. If he gets all upset by it the fat bstard should stop shoving cream cakes in his gob I applaud your honesty ;-) The only thing I disagree with is your comment "being Fat is a lifestyle choice" Sometimes it is genetics, sometimes depression to name a few that can cause obesity and weight gain.
flowwolf Posted 21 April 2013 Posted 21 April 2013 Here is the diferrence If someone was slagged off for being in a wheelchair of having downs syndrome then it's not on and the idiots saying it deserve a good kicking . however if your fat it's your fault you don't have to be you can do something about it . So if you don't want to be called lard arse or pie eating fat bastard or salad dodger don't get a job down the football ground because that's what you are going to get called.
THEBIGJOHNSTEADER; Posted 21 April 2013 Posted 21 April 2013 This will always divide opinion, a bit like straight men who think kissing other men is alright but not on and those that do it when no-ones looking in a nightclub as a treat. What I'm trying to say is when Kingfox cupped my face with both his hands in fan club a few months ago and said "shut and kiss me you sexy proof" the other guys that spat on us are probably the same ones that would single out a poor old man with depression not knowing he used to be thin before his wife and kids were killed by a drink driver, and he lost his job due to drinking but got a job down as a steward just to stay afloat, as a fat bastard at a football match?
Callabinho Posted 21 April 2013 Posted 21 April 2013 There's a fine line between banter and being out of order, banter would be between fans or maybe chanting at opposing players. If unprovoked chanting that towards a steward is pretty desperate.
somebum Posted 21 April 2013 Posted 21 April 2013 what the hell is the world coming to its a bit of a laugh and has been done for many years . its not like its a racist comment so get over it Yeah heaven forbid it to be racist.
kylestyle06 Posted 21 April 2013 Posted 21 April 2013 It's funny seeing you moan about the moaners! It gets to me when people try take the atmosphere away from football. It's what I go for!!
paulsherwood1 Posted 21 April 2013 Posted 21 April 2013 Here is the diferrence If someone was slagged off for being in a wheelchair of having downs syndrome then it's not on and the idiots saying it deserve a good kicking . however if your fat it's your fault you don't have to be you can do something about it . Perfectly put! So if you don't want to be called lard arse or pie eating fat bastard or salad dodger don't get a job down the football ground because that's what you are going to get called.
Corky Posted 21 April 2013 Posted 21 April 2013 'Banter'? No, banter would imply wit, not much on show there. A bit needless? I'd say so. A major problem? Not really, it's not the worst thing to be called. Summed up neatly.
LCFC FOX Posted 21 April 2013 Posted 21 April 2013 maybe the groundsman at Torquay hated being called Sven
Loggy88 Posted 21 April 2013 Posted 21 April 2013 People shouldn't go to football matches if they are so easily offended. If they are, their better off at a poetry class or opera.
Weller in Tights Posted 21 April 2013 Posted 21 April 2013 jobber doesnt take offence ever ! Ohh how I wish he would take offence!!! Then he might take his drum elsewhere,
