SmithyFox12 Posted 20 April 2013 Posted 20 April 2013 At today's game when one of the groundsman was walking off the pitch at the start of the second half, some comments were made about how 'large' his belly was - 'you fat bastard' etc. This was then met by comments from others around saying that it isn't needed and shouldn't be done. I'm just wondering whether you think it's acceptable and just abit of 'banter', or whether you think it's unacceptable?
Foxy Bingo Posted 20 April 2013 Posted 20 April 2013 Harsh if it's unprovoked. If I was fat I wouldnt want a bunch of people shouting that at me. But at the same time, it happens all the time at football. It is (most of the time) just banter.
WeAreGoingUp Posted 20 April 2013 Posted 20 April 2013 few fans making comments at the game..... always going to happen at the football, banter possibly, unnecessary possibly.... it depends how you view it
buzzy Posted 20 April 2013 Posted 20 April 2013 what the hell is the world coming to its a bit of a laugh and has been done for many years . its not like its a racist comment so get over it
Salieri Posted 20 April 2013 Posted 20 April 2013 I'm sure he's heard it all before, that's what happens at football matches. I doubt he'll lose any sleep over it and if he does he should think about a career change.
Mark_w Posted 20 April 2013 Posted 20 April 2013 That's the kind of thing you just need to take on the chins.
Dan Posted 20 April 2013 Posted 20 April 2013 Logically, no, it is wrong. But it's football. Football has never made sense in these kind of situations. Things like that are part of it.

THEBIGJOHNSTEADER; Posted 20 April 2013 Posted 20 April 2013 The old bird who used to walk around the filbo pitch before the match selling program's got "get your tits out" constantly and took it like a champ. I imagine everyone (apart from me) would have regretted singing that if she had just suddenly flopped them out one day.

Calling someone fat (or whatever), is just as bad, because you're still singling someone out for being 'different'. I know I'll probably get slated, but I've always thought this.
ADK Posted 20 April 2013 Posted 20 April 2013 I wouldn't do it but i'm not sure it's that big of a deal.
kylestyle06 Posted 20 April 2013 Posted 20 April 2013 The people that moan about this are also the people that moan about someone being in 'their' seat, and standing when it clearly says no persistent standing. Moaning bastards. It would of spurred me to do it more
Strokes Posted 20 April 2013 Posted 20 April 2013 I dont know why people get their knickers in a twist over a bit of name calling 'oh he called me fat' boo fućking hoo, 'he called me ginger' etc etc. Everyones turning into whiney babies, i hope his feeling were hurt and he cries himself to sleep.
THEBIGJOHNSTEADER; Posted 20 April 2013 Posted 20 April 2013 What if you're a fat ginger person with downs. Would it be harsh to get triple barrel banter?
Harry - LCFC Posted 20 April 2013 Posted 20 April 2013 You wonder why people who dislike that sort of people go to watch football matches - especially away from home. Honestly, if you don't want to hear swearing or minor forms of abuse then don't bother attending. These people really annoy me. It's almost as if they don't understand football fans.

Totally agree, I don't know what they expect before an away match.
fatboytim Posted 20 April 2013 Posted 20 April 2013 Totally different to racism or "gingerism" imo......you can't help your genes but being fat is a lifestyle choice. I am fat because I really like food (and I mean REALLY love food) and hate exercise with a passion. If he gets all upset by it the fat bstard should stop shoving cream cakes in his gob
