dandannieldanok Posted 6 June 2009 Posted 6 June 2009 There goes my B grade in Maths and place at Uni after those 2 exams today.Core 3 is just way too hard for me. I need a B too in Maths but Core 3 was a bitch yesterday, harder than previous years. I simply can't do Core 4 so I desperately needed a really good Core 3 paper.
maddog Posted 6 June 2009 Posted 6 June 2009 Doing Core 4 next week and probably need to totally nail it to get a B in maths overall. Although haven't got a fooking clue how Core 3 went, normally i remember the entire exam and check the questions and work out the answers at home, but my mind just went blank after it and i had to resit mechanics after and totally forgot everything Probably got a U in my resit mechanics, but only a couple of marks off a B first time round so i probably shouldn't have resat it I know i've got some core 3 questions right, like the find the gradient, then show the equation of the tangent is 2x+3y=25 or summat rememberd that one . Then you had to estimate the area of the shaded regions which i think was the area under the tangent which you worked out from that equation takeaway the area under the curve which you worked out by integration but i probably fooked up the integration bit. But that whole question is the only one i know i've done pretty decent on . Did you do that paper Dan? But the others could have gone either way . Normally i pretty much know the grade i've got but this one could be anything from a B-E Then the quotient rule/product rule/chain rule questions should be ok unless i've made silly mistakes. But was unsure on quite a few questions on what to do.
Unknown Fox Posted 7 June 2009 Posted 7 June 2009 Two exams remaining. Science and History Paper Two. Me too! BUZZIN'
Asha Posted 7 June 2009 Posted 7 June 2009 My teachers were shit. Well one of them was. The other one is actually quite a safe guy and really funny. When talking about the Aurora Borealis, my mate asked 'What causes all the crazy colours then?'. My teacher replies within seconds: 'What? LSD?' but the other teacher just talked about drugs and cottaging and stuff to do in Amsterdam. Gave us useless articles from the Guardian which he absolutely loved and probably wanked over it every night. Basically we had to self teach ourselves. And couldn't stand another year doing it. My old geography teacher, I swear right everytime he mentioned erosion he paused for a minute as if in thought, and then went into his office for 5.
DB11 Posted 7 June 2009 Posted 7 June 2009 Me too! BUZZIN' Better than having Maths and English Literature remaining or something
StanSP Posted 7 June 2009 Posted 7 June 2009 Also had this teacher who forgot to teach an A-Level class one side of the specification/syllabus. He only realised a week before the exam. Thankfully he wasn't my teacher.

Yep that was the bastard paper , I'm confident on 60% of the paper but that just isn't enough because I know I'll be lucky to get only half marks on Core 4. Core 4 needs to be the easiest it's been for a few years or else I'm in big trouble.
syston_fox Posted 7 June 2009 Posted 7 June 2009 Exams suck, end of! i'll go along with that! You ready for tomorrows effort?
lcfc_jme Posted 7 June 2009 Posted 7 June 2009 Public Law and the Constitution exam tomorrow, two hours long. Do I know anything? Do I fork. Fail.
Guest Posted 7 June 2009 Posted 7 June 2009 Public Law and the Constitution exam tomorrow, two hours long. Do I know anything? Do I fork. Fail. I bet you know more than you think. You'll do fine

Joe. Posted 8 June 2009 Posted 8 June 2009 First exam tomorrow, psychology. I'll be glad to get this one over and done with to be honest, it's taken over my life this week. If the predicted questions come up it can be absolutely nailed. Anything other than this though and I'm a bit screwed.....

Half of my uni exams were literally past paper questions and stuff, and people still moaned about it being hard.

DB11 Posted 8 June 2009 Posted 8 June 2009 Think i need to nail core 4 now, other ways my grade B in Maths will slip away to a grade C on these last 2 exams A pass is a pass, right? Or is that just really at GCSE to get into 6th Form where A Levels become important and GCSEs can be forgotten about.
The Doctor Posted 8 June 2009 Posted 8 June 2009 finished with english, graphics and RE (biggest waste of time ever. lesson consisted of me arguing the exsistance of god with the rest of the class. I won. there is no god.) still have 6 exams left tho 2 business, 2 science and media and maths exams on the same day (2 1/2 hours each) still just 12 days till its all over. can't wait. finally leaving guthlaxton to go to a decent college.

As long as you don't mess up your GCSE's you're usually ok. Uni's are much harsher with what they want. I needed ABB to get onto my course.
Joe. Posted 8 June 2009 Posted 8 June 2009 You doing psychology at uni?? If so which uni?Cos I'm thinking of doing it next year Nah it's just A-levels mate, same as you.
