Vardinhio Posted 5 June 2013 Posted 5 June 2013 I can do one through work for £250, is this good? Apparently if I want a picture (which I'd have thought is a great thing to keep) it is another £120 which seems a lot. I work for the MoD so this would be directly through the Army. Can anyone recomend a company that might do it cheaper?
NewburyFox Posted 5 June 2013 Posted 5 June 2013 I've done it, I would definitely recommend it and would love to do it again. I went from 12,000ft which was fine. In terms of price, mine was £200. Had loads of pictures taken from the ground as I was landing but nothing on the way down or as I jumped out. Just personal preference I suppose. Fantastic experience!
NewburyFox Posted 5 June 2013 Posted 5 June 2013 http://www.skydive.co.uk/res_website.asp?supplierCode=HIN100 It was definitely at Hinton Airfield in Northamptonshire, not too far from Silverstone. I think that was the site we booked it through, definitely the right location. I did it tandem, not sure what you're looking to do.
Ozwin Posted 5 June 2013 Posted 5 June 2013 I've mentioned doing something for charity at work and this came up, would love to do it.
Alf Bentley Posted 6 June 2013 Posted 6 June 2013 A French mate of mine, name of Anthony, told me that he gave it a go a few weeks back - somewhere down in Hertfordshire... It all came to a sticky end, though. There was a break and it ruined his big day.
SystonFox Posted 6 June 2013 Posted 6 June 2013 I've done it. Incredible. Pay the extra for a DVD/pics of the actual skydive its well worth it
jonthefox Posted 6 June 2013 Posted 6 June 2013 Never done it, but i'd love too. I did a parachute jump a while back, and that was brilliant.
Captain... Posted 6 June 2013 Posted 6 June 2013 Yes, it's brilliant, but I'll warn you know after you the freefall... well this is what happened to me: After the rush of the freefall I was all pumped full of adrenaline, the parachute was open and we were gliding down at a few hundred feet, I picked a few flies out my teeth and turned to my instructor, 'Wow, this is your job? Do you ever get bored of this?' 'well I prefer doing this solo, rather than tandem, more freedom.' Fair enough I thought, he was a bit of a miserable git, suddenly I feel one of the straps going, then the other, I'm slowly slipping away, becoming detached from the man with the giant sheet of plastic that is stopping me from being turned into just plain old captain pancake, I start to shit myself thinking I'm falling, then I realise he is doing it, so I shit myself even more after what he said about preferring to do it solo, I've got this homicidal Swede on my back!!!! Then he stops adjusting the straps and moves me into a more comfortable position, I couldn't wait to get down before I released my own version of chocolate rain on the unsuspecting fools below. Apparently everyone else had been given advance warning of this readjustment, but my instructor kept it as an unpleasant little surprise for me.
