Guest Col city fan Posted 30 August 2013 Posted 30 August 2013 I am firmly of the opinion that if you sign for a club, you move nearby. Even if its renting somewhere ( they can afford it!) Wasn't Beckford living up north when he was with us? Driving so far each day makes no sense IMO. I think you need to be of the mind-set that you are near the club and make an effort to learn about and join in with the area that your club is in.

Guest Posted 31 August 2013 Posted 31 August 2013 bloody hell. Manchester to Leicester is so far. What an immature baby.
Lobsterboyuk Posted 31 August 2013 Posted 31 August 2013 Homesick -http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/10646054._/? Glad he's gone then, clear he wasn't settled here. Shame it didn't work out but that's one less player in the squad who isn't 100% committed to the cause...
NewburyFox Posted 31 August 2013 Posted 31 August 2013 Maybe it would've helped if he'd actually moved to the area rather than a 2 hour or so commute several days a week. It shows that you're not fully committed to the club when you don't move to the area, and maybe it's Ben's fault for not really settling as it doesn't sound like he made the effort to truly make the move down to the midlands. “I used to stay over quite a bit (at Leicester) but I wasn’t really settling." Well you won't if you're not trying to make this place your new home.
MikeyT Posted 31 August 2013 Posted 31 August 2013 I won't miss the Ben Marshall song that used to be sung...for hours and hours!!!

Well you won't if you're not trying to make this place your new home. I don't know if this has all come about since the whole loan system got reformed. Players are moving about often on short term contracts, so are used to life on the road so to speak. Really the club should have a policy in place and enforced.
