The Year Of The Fox Posted 8 October 2013 Posted 8 October 2013 Thoughts? The blokes clearly intelligent, probably too much so for the EDL.
AKCJ Posted 8 October 2013 Posted 8 October 2013 On what grounds did he quit? Hopefully he grew up to realise what a vile organisation it is.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 8 October 2013 Author Posted 8 October 2013 He has concerns about far right extremism. Didn't want to be associated with other EDL members who have tattoos of a mosque with 'boom' next to it.
purpleronnie Posted 8 October 2013 Posted 8 October 2013 Thoughts? The blokes clearly intelligent, probably too much so for the EDL. I can always rely on you to cheer me up.
Freeman's Wharfer Posted 8 October 2013 Posted 8 October 2013 Thoughts? The blokes clearly intelligent, probably too much so for the EDL. Really?!
Mr.X Posted 8 October 2013 Posted 8 October 2013 English Defence League leader and founder Tommy Robinson has left the group, saying he has concerns over the "dangers of far-right extremism". http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-24442953
danny. Posted 8 October 2013 Posted 8 October 2013 Really?! If you listen to him interviewed he doesn't sound stupid
purpleronnie Posted 8 October 2013 Posted 8 October 2013 If you listen to him interviewed he doesn't sound stupid yet he 'led' the EDL.
danny. Posted 8 October 2013 Posted 8 October 2013 Moral judgement doesn't really have any connection to intelligence
purpleronnie Posted 8 October 2013 Posted 8 October 2013 Moral judgement doesn't really have any connection to intelligence Nor does judging ones intelligence on interviews.
danny. Posted 8 October 2013 Posted 8 October 2013 Nor does judging ones intelligence on interviews. Really? i find someone's articulation, speech and how they put forth viewpoints and arguments is generally closely connected with their intelligence.
purpleronnie Posted 8 October 2013 Posted 8 October 2013 Really? i find someone's articulation, speech and how they put forth viewpoints and arguments is generally closely connected with their intelligence. I must have missed that one, every interview I've seen he come's across as a close minded paranoid uneducated bigot......but maybe those were his bad days.
danny. Posted 8 October 2013 Posted 8 October 2013 So if you are paranoid you cannot be intelligent? Nikola Tesla had severe paranoia and he was probably the most amazing mind humanity has ever seen, he made Einstein look pretty average in the IQ stakes
purpleronnie Posted 8 October 2013 Posted 8 October 2013 So if you are paranoid you cannot be intelligent? Nikola Tesla had severe paranoia and he was probably the most amazing mind humanity has ever seen, he made Einstein look pretty average in the IQ stakes Nope just stating how he comes across in interviews, you obviously have seen different ones in which he comes across a lot differently, seems odd, but I'll take your word for it. Lets just hope the EDL now dissapear.
Mr.X Posted 8 October 2013 Posted 8 October 2013 There seems to be two sides to the EDL, There is the moderate articulate, almost liberal side to it, then there is the nasty fascist side to it. As the leader of th EDL he knew what a bunch of racist many in the EDL are, but he more than kept quiet about that for many years, so why he is now acting shocked at how things are in the EDL ?
danny. Posted 8 October 2013 Posted 8 October 2013 I've only seen a couple TBF, but he seemed an intelligent chap to me, not in any way saying he isn't completely morally bankrupt though.
The God Emperor Posted 8 October 2013 Posted 8 October 2013 why is a man morally bankrupt for challenging an ideology that is completely at odds with a free, democratic society? he's obviously persevered with that organisation for far too long as from the start it was hijacked by far right militants and thugs just looking for a scrap, but why does this make him morally bankrupt? members of the labour party were found cheating the tax payer by fiddling expenses but this doesnt mean the ed miliband is a morally bankrupt whit collar criminal.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 8 October 2013 Author Posted 8 October 2013 I can always rely on you to cheer me up. Been busy the last hour since posting, but I'd have basically had said everything Danny has said. Hes no mug nor stereotypical thug (in terms of intelligence)

Pretty much my thougths on it, he did his best to stop it but it was always impossible to keep out rhose sort of people, important to recognise the group did some good as well, had it not been for them I very much doubt the authorities would have gone on to really investigate the grooming cases we have seen up and down the country over the last couple of years. Thought of Aj-Mudhaj and the MDL walking unopposed speading their hate is scary but hopefully the public will shun then. You would like to see Billy Bragg, UAF etc counter these as well but we all know they tolerate their racist and homphones when they don't come in white. More interested he has join the Quillian group, surprised they took him, in general a very left wing organisation that tries to combat Islamic extremism, will be the far left in a bizarre position for his next speech.

I wasn't referring to his decision to leave with that comment, but his years of service with the EDL.
Bellend Sebastian Posted 8 October 2013 Posted 8 October 2013 homphones when they don't come in white. I've got one of them, it's always dropping calls. The only thing I like about it is the colour. I can understand the need for angry people to have an outlet (hello everyone) but I've never really seen the point of the EDL, but that may be because I give them so little of my attention. I don't think they need to raise awareness of the dangers of Islamic extremism - I remember 7/7, my memory's not that short, and I doubt that walking down the street in a bomber jacket shouting with fellow likeminded folk is any more likely to combat Islamic extremism than making some cakes or drawing a nice picture. If they're banging on about it because it makes them cross, it just strikes me as one of those somewhat empty opinions, because isn't it most people's default position to not like extremism - unless you're an extremist, presumably. It's like saying you don't like paedophiles or being force fed a turd - thanks for that clarity, I'm glad you've made your position clear on that one. Maybe Tommy got all carried away with it all until one day he had a look at himself and wondered what he was actually achieving, stranger things have happened
