Tommy Robinson Quits EDL

I hadn't heard of him so I found this, interview starts at 2:12

The interviewer is crap, seemed more interested in lining up the next "gotcha" than understanding the responses.

Because when you accuse people of an offence as serious as racism you should provide proof.

I'll watch the video later on.

Having read and viewed many pieces about the EDL I assumed that most well read, intelligent posters on here had come to the conclusion they are, in the main, racist some time ago.

If Robinson isn't a racist himself then why has he fronted a street movement that clearly is (with a few exeptions)..

Explain why he's denying EDL members are seen Sieg Heiling and then 12 weeks later he's calling some of them morons.

I'm not Tommy Robinson.

Comment was meant for Smudge who seemed more interested in pulling ip the interviewer than the interviewee.

That was an appalling interview though.

The point I was making is that if the interview had been more inquisitive than confrontational, i might have had a better understanding of the man.

The BBC have always done that when questioning the 'far-right'.

Have a look at the Question Time they invited Nick Griffin onto, they didn't just make it confrontational but they changed the whole format of the show for one night to have an organised character assassination on him.

They didn't cover themselves in glory that night but then I didn't want to hear Griffin discussing day to day politics.

The whole point of not banning parties like this is so that they can be questioned about their policies.

Seems like they've all reinvented themselves at the Jeremy Paxman Charm School.

That's my whole point.

You can't have people saying "fight them in the mind and on policy" and then organise a colluded attack like they did that night which changed the format from every other QT they have ever done.

Why shouldn't he discuss day to day politics? Are you scared people might agree with him on some things?

The BNP at the time were pushing popular policies BUT they are a racist party, that is the whole point of the party, and that point needs to be hammered so that people were aware of what their 'protest vote' was for.

That's fine.

Just don't resort to the usual line of "we need to beat them on policy and thought etc etc" when the reality is that's not and never has been the tactic favoured by those who say it.

Pretty much my thougths on it, he did his best to stop it but it was always impossible to keep out rhose sort of people, important to recognise the group did some good as well, had it not been for them I very much doubt the authorities would have gone on to really investigate the grooming cases we have seen up and down the country over the last couple of years.

Thought of Aj-Mudhaj and the MDL walking unopposed speading their hate is scary but hopefully the public will shun then. You would like to see Billy Bragg, UAF etc counter these as well but we all know they tolerate their racist and homphones when they don't come in white.

More interested he has join the Quillian group, surprised they took him, in general a very left wing organisation that tries to combat Islamic extremism, will be the far left in a bizarre position for his next speech.

Yeah, what will we do now we haven't got the EDL to protect us from the Muslamic ray guns? Who's going to neck a pint or ten and smash up city centres now?!

What all 20 of them?

They were shunned and ignored by the public, including the Luton Central Mosque, it was the EDL who gave them oxygen.

And a member of Luton's Central Mosque said: "They represent a very small number of people from the Muslim community.

"The police should have moved them along and not allowed them to protest. They are idiots."

Shame the 99% of moderate muslims didn't go and give them a good kicking. (Or at least have a protest against them)

That would have sent a bigger message to everyone about how they feel about these people. Actions speak louder than words.

Actions speak louder than words and yet aren't you arguing against vigilantism in another thread.

Could just as easily say that it's a shame that the white population don't give the EDL a good kicking.

Certain things I'm ok with it on, we've all got our double standards.

And it was glorious. Completely made him look like the moron he is.

I agree, it was moronic that he accepted the gig. If he thought he was going to get a fair hearing from an organisation like the BBC then he's a bigger idiot than he looks.

Or indeed any sane organisation.

Glad we see sense on the EU now. :o:P

Fair play to Ed Miliband for taking action over the racists in his party today as well.
