Assumptions

Why is everyone assuming that because lot of players and our manager will soon be out of contract that they'll be looking for a way out?

We're top of the league by three points, have the best start of the year for god knows how long, and all everyone seems to be suggesting is that Pearson will be tempted by RELEGATION threatened premiership clubs, and that Wes and Lloyd are going to itching for a move to F****st. Can we not just shut up and enjoy the ride? IF we get promoted, these players won't be going anywhere, and neither will our manager and coaching staff. They are committed to the end of the season and they are well aware that if we achieve what we're on track to achieve they will get new and improved deals.

Actually you have made a bit of an assumption there yourself.

I don't think they would be looking for a way out but for security for their family and for their future.

Lets face it... if you knew your contract was going to end in 6 months at your place of work and, so far, your boss was reluctant to start discussing  a new contract wouldn't it make you think a bit? You'd probably even start thinking about where else you MIGHT HAVE TO go and work at as after all bills and lifestyle choices cost money...  Personally I would start looking at what other jobs are going.

What Leicester are doing might be a necessity for them but from a players point of view its not the most settling thought.

I don't think anyone really thinks that, there is just some harmless speculation and idle discussion in between games, with nothing to moan about we need to occupy our minds some how, there will soon be a thread about how it will be financial meltdown if we don't get promoted this season.

The fact is though there is no real loyalty in football anymore and money talks, so as unsavoury as it might sound, it wouldn't be the first time a manager or player has left us for more money at a club doing worse in the league.

Nice positive post. I would eat my hat should lloyd decide to go to our neighbours.

Tho birmingham born, he is leicester to the core now. Why would he give up god like status in the future - ala walshy muzzey lennon - for a season at an even improved salary.

Wouldnt make sense on any level.

There will also be some nerves that if we do go up, they won't feature in the Prem and will be waved goodbye to as they won't be a part of the managers plans...... some may want a deal asap and maybe not just from us.

Obviously it's not ideal, but if we sign NP and a host of players on improved deals that obviously makes FFP more difficult to achieve.

If we go up, offer them new deals and they'll be delighted to be a premier league manager/player.

If we don't go up, we probably won't be able to afford improved deals but at least we won't be in meltdown.

Nugent, Dyer, Schmeichel and Morgan would all receive offers from other Championship clubs should we go up and chose not to offer them new contracts.

They have a chance of being offerred a new contract at increased rates should we get promoted, tey'd be aft to sign for anyone else.

Agents get a percentage, no agent is going to advise his client to accept reduced rates in January from another club when he may earn more next season.

its not that the players are looking for a way out, it's the fact that if the club doesn't get promoted, the club may not be able to afford to give these players new contracts due to FFP, i agree with everthing else though. :)

you may well split your sides laughing but when think of how revered those 3 were long after they finished football, yet we still have the birch pottering around the club 40yrs on with half their skills even in his prime.

Trust me. Lloyd will remain an important part of lcfc for many yrs to come. And thats due to his affection and bond he has with the city faithful. He can go on to an ambassador role at the club. Much like the birch. A connection that home grown talent such as Lineker and Heskey would give a right arm for.IMHO ; )
