Larry_LCFC Posted 27 December 2013 Posted 27 December 2013 Well they are definitely not legal that's for sure.
Strokes Posted 27 December 2013 Posted 27 December 2013 I'm sure you could find online support in setting it up, but if you already have a dish installed its basically plug and play. Then you have to learn how to get the most out of it.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 27 December 2013 Author Posted 27 December 2013 A mate of mine has one but I don't believe much of what he says. He tells me they're legal and all you need to do is cancel sky but keep the box and dish. You then need an internet connection still to use it

You then need an internet connection still to use itI don't know that much about it, but I'm pretty sure if its a European box its not illegal due to our eu connections, I seem to remember sky losing a big court case over it, so your friend may be correct.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 27 December 2013 Author Posted 27 December 2013 Surely they'd not be so readily available on a huge companies website if they weren't legal
lavrentis Posted 27 December 2013 Posted 27 December 2013 Probably legal to sell but not legal to use,
Vlad the Fox Posted 28 December 2013 Posted 28 December 2013 I don't know that much about it, but I'm pretty sure if its a European box its not illegal due to our eu connections, I seem to remember sky losing a big court case over it, so your friend may be correct. Wasn't it a pub landlady from Portsmouth who sky took to court and lost?
Strokes Posted 28 December 2013 Posted 28 December 2013 Wasn't it a pub landlady from Portsmouth who sky took to court and lost?I thought she won, but again I can't quite remember. I'm sure someone on here knows how to search these things out.
Lobsterboyuk Posted 28 December 2013 Posted 28 December 2013 The Amazon product is probably a regular satellite receiver so is probably legal - to steal SKY probably involves "reflashing" the ROM with some software downloaded from some dodgy website somewhere that also possibly installs numerous viruses on your PC in to the bargain, possibly causing identity theft etc. It would then connect over the internet to receive the decryption details to unscramble the SKY channels I'd imagine. Every chance that SKY will change their encryption in a way that breaks this box as well. You could save a fair amount of cash but could be a pain in the backside as well...
The Year Of The Fox Posted 28 December 2013 Author Posted 28 December 2013 I don't fancy breaking the law regardless of how much i could save.
Vlad the Fox Posted 28 December 2013 Posted 28 December 2013 I thought she won, but again I can't quite remember. I'm sure someone on here knows how to search these things out. She did, sorry I didn't word that very well.
Strokes Posted 28 December 2013 Posted 28 December 2013 I don't fancy breaking the law regardless of how much i could save. There are forums that could help you find out legality, digital spy used to be a good one for satellite technology.
CupidStunt Posted 31 December 2013 Posted 31 December 2013 I just ordered one, wondered if anyone has any tips on how to set it up before i start trawling the internet Anyone recommend a decent Cccam?
The Year Of The Fox Posted 31 December 2013 Author Posted 31 December 2013 You may be able to help me then!

Captain... Posted 31 December 2013 Posted 31 December 2013 From a legal point of you you can pick any unencrypted channels, but if you start installing decryption software to get pay channels for free you will be in trouble. The pub landlady was showing a Greek broadcast of premierleague 3 o'clock game if I remember correctly and she argued that it was legal as sky or anyone else couldn't stop her from purchasing a satellite channel from an eu country as it contravenes eu trade laws. But I think she had paid for it or it was free and so wasn't doing anything illegal with encrypted broadcasts.
Webbo Posted 31 December 2013 Posted 31 December 2013 Sky change the codes on a regular basis so you'll have to keep paying to change your box too, unless you know how to do it yourself.
MooseBreath Posted 31 December 2013 Posted 31 December 2013 I don't fancy breaking the law regardless of how much i could save. Weren't you one of the people saying there is nothing wrong with taking cash in hand work a few months back?
