First Meeting - The Minutes

Recommended Posts

Posted

Afternoon all, hope your New Year's hangovers are gone and are enjoying being a Leicester City fan as much as we are at the moment!

In our 'invitation' thread, we were heartened to see the amount of interest you guys were taking in our meeting. We can confirm the meeting took place and was very productive with all parties keen to help progress the future of atmosphere at Filbert Way.

Obviously not everybody who was interested in attending could do so, and we do not wish for any interested fans to miss out on our plans.

Therefore, we have uploaded the minutes from that meeting onto our blog. As ever, the link for this is below.

Interesting seeing them raise points about the atmosphere 'failing'. IMO it's better now than any other season we've had at the Walkers / KP. It's certainly not getting any worse, and is much better than other teams grounds I've been to this year. Find it very strange people always criticise our home atmosphere, it's miles better than many other clubs in our league.

Just because it's better than Blackburn and QPR doesn't mean it's good enough.

It could be worse, but anybody who remembers the first two seasons at the new place will know it could also be a lot better.

Interesting read, mind.

There is room for improvement. BUT you do have to look at the bigger picture, any away ground we go too has no atmosphere what so ever compared too our place.. so well done too everyone in L1/k1/j3 N1 /SK1

Sounds good and I hope to move my ST over to SK1 for the Charlton game. How are planning on getting the message around?

Every way possible!

We're going to get you in a sandwich board and march you round town okay??

I understand that some people deem it 'not good enough', but it is getting better. That report on the meeting makes out like it's getting worse and worse, which isn't the case.

Congrats on your efforts and good luck with everything!

Obviously a singing section has been tried before with no positive outcome... lets hope you get a little further.

IMO the whole of L1 and K1 should be standing, in which case it would be rammed with people wanting to sing every week.. but I do understand that we are a long way away from that!

Maybe the kop should be swapped with the family stand? has anyone mentioned that before?  ;)  aha..

Keep up the good work, keep posting on FoxesTalk with any way that members can get involved or help the cause as I'm sure people wouldn't hesitate to get involved.

In regards to help with graphic work, I could help if you need someone.

Hello Ashley, I know you're a fellow N blocker. Help getting the message across up there would be a big help if you don't mind telling people about it. That is if you're moving across to SK1 for the Charlton game of course

Every way possible!

Only thing about sk1 idea that I dislike is that is too far away from the away fans, I do think it's a massive shame that L, K and N can't be expanded to make an intimidating atmosphere either side of the away fans

I wouldn't say it got better this season. There've been more games such as 4-3 v Fulham & 5-3 v Bolton which have definitely helped and they really were quality at times.

But for me it's been as bad as ever. Can hardly hear L1 these days and the Kop probably manages a song a game.

Exactly the same feeling from me... too far from the away fans, however in the spirit of making a statement for one game I would do it.

I've said this before on this forum (in fact its the only subject that gets me going)

1) - Club to TURN OFF pre match music.  Someone will start a chant, and others will join in, then away fans will join in and then you have an atmosphere.  Just take the worse case scenario that noone chants and the atmosphere doesn't improve - thats what we have now!  So give us a chance.  This is by far the biggest point surely.  We do have singers but the club keeps them intentionally silenced right until exact second of kick off.  This is intentional - THEY want to determine every last detail of the atmosphere, not us!  Can't remember which away game it was this year, but one club didnt have pre match music and made for a great atmosphere

2) - Not a dig a jobber - but for years (thinking back to chelsea dagger too) there was a post goal routine.  Cheer - Chelsea Dagger/Who are ya - wait for jobber - poznan.  Again its more control from the club/drum.  Lets see what no goal music/post goal drum brings

Good luck to the group.  Personally I'd concentrate on things you could lobby the club for like those above, as safe standing, ticket prices are honourable, but will take years and the actual laws of UK to change.

And if you enjoyed it??? :)

If it was better than K1 then yeah sure I would sit there again but it would have to be pretty special to beat the atmosphere back there.

Great write up will certainly be attending the trial game.

I think to make something like this work it needs people to actually join in with it. Hey, the trial is just for one game, then if it's a success who knows?  :)

The club will have no problem discussing and agreeing to an organised singing section as they did this with the original N block and the Fosse boys but beware as soon as it turns into an organised standing section as it inevitably will they'll pull the plug on it just like they did with both the N block and Fosse boys.

they put up with the current standing but I imagine it's because it's not organised/orchestrated.

It kind of is orchestrated though isn't it? If you buy a ticket at the back on K1 you better be prepared to stand, or you'll be looking at the person in fronts arse for 90 minutes.

I guess they put up with current standing as it's gone too far to do anything now.. they try to nip 'new' standing areas in the bud before they can gain momentum.

Just out of interest.. what actually happened to the Fosse Boys?

It's not orchestrated in the sense that no one or a group are involved in making it happen.

The original N block and Fosse boys had meetings with the club and got agreement for their existence on the basis that they didn't stand, inevitably they did and the stewards moved in and started ejecting fans and preventing them from going in those sections. This was done without warning or further discussions on the standing issues.

As much as I disagree with the reasoning behind it, if they agreed with the club not to stand, then went and did it anyway, is any surprise that they got ejected?

As far as I'm aware, one of the key ideas behind this movement is that everything will be completely transparent, so that the club knows (and agrees to) exactly what Union FS plan to do and when they are going to do it. The last thing you want to do is create an 'us vs them' mentality between the fans and the club, as it'll only be detrimental to further ideas and discussions.
