LCFC FOX Posted 2 January 2014 Posted 2 January 2014 People suggesting others should just move to fill up J3. Its too expensive. Why do you think people chose to stand in N block? Get all of the singers from the KOP and the people standing and singing in N block into SK1 and we have a start. If we are louder and singing more songs than L and K (Which I can guarantee we will) no doubt they will start slowly moving over. The ones who don't will be the ones who just want to constantly swear and shout abuse anyway.
AndWhat? Posted 2 January 2014 Posted 2 January 2014 So who are this UFS? Is it a branch of the FoxesTrust for example? If not who are the main people? I wasn't at the meeting so from my perspective they're just anonymous people who are speaking to the club on behalf of me. They aren't speaking on behalf of you, only people who have joined them. Union FS are speaking on behalf of Union FS.

They're publicising meetings and posting minutes of meetings online, so it's all open to the fans. If ever you do want to go to one of their meetings, I think they'd make you feel welcome.

I have said in the previous post to put pressure on the owners to change the pricing policies to help the atmosphere. Your saying about the cost in J3 would be a good place to start.

I don't want to sound like I'm speaking on behalf of the group, because this is just my impression from the meeting I attended but they are a welcoming bunch and it seems great for any like minded fans. It currently seems to be primarily fairly young guys, who are fully intent on improving the atmosphere (with other things in mind for later down the line). But with that being said, it's not exclusively for people like that at all. I believe that any person who has the best interests at heart for Leicester City will be welcome there, even if they don't want to sing for 90 minutes. Also with regards to the idea of going to SK1, my understanding is that the other groups for the singing section failed because of the fact that they didn't do what the club asked of them (mainly in terms of standing). The idea for UFS is that there will be full co-operation with the club. So if they ask us to sit down, we sit down and only stand during 'moments of excitement' which is what is allowed. It's more important to build up a good relationship and work with the club so even if it won't be great at first in terms of standing compared to L/K/J, it will improve with time and we can hopefully improve the atmosphere considerably in the long term. The difference between us being there as opposed to people who are in L/K/J is we intend to sing for the entire game. Not just for the first and last 20 minutes or whenever we score. It can be better to have 100 people singing for 90 minutes than 1000 people singing every 10 minutes. I don't think that having a few people leaving L/K will affect it too much as they will still sing from time to time anyway like they do now. You never know we might even encourage the kop to sing more often! The pro-active approach is what appeals to me the most. So many of us long for a better atmosphere but don't really do anything that's going to improve it. Having a group of like-minded people who have the clubs best interests at heart can only be a good thing IMO.

Most fans turn their noses up at it but I love banter with the away fans.I don't think all s lost in L/K and it will remain a big part of any KP atmosphere but a decent SK1 section would help getting the place rocking
C-man Posted 2 January 2014 Posted 2 January 2014 Ok, so if the most vocal area in the ground has hit its peak and is going downhill why not give it a lift with an injection of more people who want to sing? The problem we have at the minute is the spreading out of people and the choice of SK1 only increases that problem. A certain number of the people you want with you are going to want to stand (L/K) or are going to be want to be near or next to the away fans... L/K is the only area in the stadium that can reasonably cater for this. How do I expect it to grow? That may be problematic but these two areas are certainly not at capacity. I've been in L1 for about 6 seasons now and when I first moved there on Row Z we were just about the first row standing. Over the years that has changed and we're probably about the third or fourth row now (i.e. standing from W) so there has been progress, albeit slow. Instead of moving along we need to move down the stand. Ideally the bottom half of L1 would move out and L1 would be a standing block from the front row but the only way I can see that happening is with a designated safe-standing area. In an ideal world those of you who want to improve the atmosphere but aren't in L/K would buy tickets in the lower halves of L/K and have the determination to say no when the old biddies who sit there with their blankets and flasks because it's the cheapest part of the East Stand tell you to sit down. Unreserved seating in L1 would solve a lot of problems but again I won't hold my breath on that one! Absolutely get your point but I disagree. The whole project can absolutely not be about STHs only, which is what sticking to L would mean. I'm sure you don't need telling that there's a hell of a lot of fans out there who can't afford to go to every game, but when they do go they give it everything. The group has to provide for them and they would simply not be able to get involved in L (STH only) and K/J because it's too expensive. It'd be ridiculous of the group itself to say 'we want cheaper tickets' then encourage everyone to migrate to some of the most expensive blocks in the stadium. Sure - we have a lot of fans who want to stand next to the away fans, and have for a number of years. Fair play. The problem I have with that is that (from an outsider's perspective) unless we are playing Forest/Leeds/Wednesday L1 just goes through the motions - i.e. Poznan, drum, who are ya, maybe a WLY etc - because they have nothing to get them up for it. We can't simply sit around for 10/15 years waiting for those at the front of L to (probably literally) die off before making progress down the stand. Like you say there's no hope of unreserved seating in L1 - SK1 is our best chance of this. I understand that there are fewer than 100 STHs on the back 10-15 rows of the area in SK1 in question which means there is a lot of room for relocation. I'm convinced that if safe standing areas were ever to be introduced at the KP, it would be at the front of SK1 and SK2. You may aswell have a group ready to move there for when it does come in.

Fez of Mahrez Posted 2 January 2014 Posted 2 January 2014 I hope they're content to deal with cynicism, slow progress and setbacks. Everything else like this has gone down the pan but fingers crossed.
Carl the Llama Posted 2 January 2014 Posted 2 January 2014 Why is her gesture for "nailed it" what can only be described as representing either a powerful and heavy vaginal discharge or the stroking of an imaginary horse's penis?
Kitchandro Posted 2 January 2014 Posted 2 January 2014 Where did I say do nothing? The answer is there!! fill the stadium we can try to persuade the owners to change the pricing structure. Although to be fair they have kept season ticket prices pretty much the same along with the direct debit scheme and tried to fill the family stand. Pressure and dialogue can work to try to make it possible to find ways to ensure larger attendances. Ultimately success and Premiership football will achieve what u are all alluding to. Please note the ? after (can we). because we can try to back the team and show them we want them to do well. Or we can boo young players like DD when he is struggling and the throw our dummies out the pram because he cups his ears. Well if those that give cannot take it back and see the fighting spirit, then they are just undermining the team and are small minded. Filling the stadium doesn't equal a great atmosphere. Not in the slightest. The large majority of fans who want to create an atmosphere area at matches week in week out.
_Fatboyslow_ Posted 2 January 2014 Posted 2 January 2014 I do hope this works and can show what a safe standing area could give the club and helps get everyone onboard the safe standing bus.

Jackubu Posted 2 January 2014 Posted 2 January 2014 I went the meeting as well and primarily the group is full of youngish people and the people who organised it seemed very intent on letting others have their voice heard just as much if not more than theirs. Its very open and anyone could of turned up. The idea of moving to SK1 revolved around the idea L/K/J are primarily full and it would be difficult to organise anything there. SK1 has room to grow and expand (numbers wise). A proclaimed singing section doesnt have to be near the away fans at all. Although i did enjoy the banter in N block with the away fans i enjoy being in SK1 much more. What surprised me the most was how Lee Jobber approached the meeting. He nailed it when he said "the drum shouldnt start songs"
yorkie1999 Posted 2 January 2014 Posted 2 January 2014 If this does happen, they should start singing a song that everyone knows and can join in with, even the old biddies. Any old crap will do as long as it's famous.

LCFC FOX Posted 3 January 2014 Posted 3 January 2014 I'm probably reading to far into this but what happens after the Charlton game? I'm so tempted to just move my ticket from N1 to the top of SK1 anyway. I look over recently and you seem to be constantly singing anyway. You even have a guy with a flag which I want!
Dan Posted 3 January 2014 Posted 3 January 2014 Don't see the problem with it not being on Easter Monday. Gives us an extra day when some teams won't have as they'll played Saturday-Monday. But I mean, why could they not have put QPR at home back to Good Friday at 3pm or something? So we have two 3pm games with a 3 day gap rather than a 3pm game and a 7:45 game.

Unreserved seating in L1 would solve a lot of problems but again I won't hold my breath on that one! There's a good argument for an against both. I can see the logic behind working on what we already have but truth be told I don't really rate L1 anymore. If L1 was still at its peak (and it genuinely was loud a few years back) then I'd be possibly swaying towards what you're saying but all I hear from people in there now is that it's full of kids on their phones and it doesn't surprise me either given I rarely hear it in decent voice. Maybe it's acoustics but I can hear a lot of away fans with no problem. The longer term potential is definitely SK1 for me. I agree that L1 is currently better but I'm not sure it's as much better as a lot think, and it's located horribly really.
Mrmojorisin Posted 3 January 2014 Posted 3 January 2014 Moshing is all the fun in standing. Have you never gone mental when we've scored and ended up on a completely different row? I thought most of us want SAFE standing..it's comments like yours which will only prolong the lack of standing areas.
yorkie1999 Posted 3 January 2014 Posted 3 January 2014 What like 'Bridge over troubled water'? Nah. Smack my bitch up.
ACF Posted 3 January 2014 Posted 3 January 2014 Shouldn't we be intimidating the opposition teams not fans...?
