Leicester Bean Posted 15 January 2014 Posted 15 January 2014 I reckon James or Drinkwater could turn out to be better players than Cleverley in time, no doubt both will forge careers in the top flight, hopefully with us. Said this to my mate who's a United fan the other day and he agreed with me. So much potential.
Unabomber Posted 15 January 2014 Posted 15 January 2014 I wonder if Drinky was actually on the transfer list in the summer, imagine if someone had signed him!
Dickov22 Posted 15 January 2014 Posted 15 January 2014 I wonder if Drinky was actually on the transfer list in the summer, imagine if someone had signed him! 100% wasn't
Kitchandro Posted 15 January 2014 Posted 15 January 2014 I think he's a different player to last season. He was good at times from August-January, but often he tended to be very negative and opted to play backward passes rather than taking the game by the scruff of the neck. I remember watching him away at Wolves on TV and he was awful. He's probably not had a performance even close to that this season. He's much more positive now, he takes responsibility as the key central midfielder and creator, he's good at keeping the ball but is also capable of picking a great pass. He's cut out the hopeful long balls as well.
Ric Flair Posted 15 January 2014 Posted 15 January 2014 If Drinkwater could add a few more goals to his game then he's ready made Premiership class for me.
foxfanazer Posted 15 January 2014 Posted 15 January 2014 I think a lot of them would compete. I could accept being turned inside out by Aguero and Suarez - 90% of defenders in the league are. You put us up against Norwich, Cardiff, Palace or Fulham at the minute, who would you fancy? I don't think there's much in it personally. I think if the likes of Dyer & Vardy keep up this form then they'd actually succeed for us in the top flight and you'd never ever have imagined that twelve months ago. I certainly wouldn't. I agree mate When people say could we compete in the Prem, a lot of people think that means beating the Chelsea's and the Man City's etc. It doesn't, this squad with a few quality additions would give the teams you mentioned a hard time imo. Pace is effective at any level
FoxInTheBirstallBox Posted 15 January 2014 Posted 15 January 2014 I'm just flabbergasted by Drinkwater's transformation this season, from a player who really struggled at times last season & probably deserved the criticism he got. However right now, you cannot fault the lad, player of the month I 100% agree with this Last season i couldnt stand seeing him on the pitch. the frustration of seeing a player every week and he daren't move or pass forward and just general stuff like that. he even admitted in the Drinkwater edition of the programme early in the season his form was bad last season which i got respect for him admitting But this season, he has got to be one of the few in the team with genuine premier league qualities, i dare even say once big wes has gone which i think he will, and unless Kasper takes it, he could be a decent captain of the side. He is defiantly strong and commanding enough in the midfield thee days Heres hoping he keeps up the excellent work!
