foxes_rule1978 Posted 26 January 2014 Posted 26 January 2014 Wawrinka not missing a shot, he looks awesome, Nadal hasn't had a look in... Break up in the second
foxfanazer Posted 26 January 2014 Posted 26 January 2014 Unbelievable tennis from Wawrinka! Never seen Rafa so rattled
Jimothy Posted 26 January 2014 Posted 26 January 2014 Nadal's losing and he's wincing, what a surprise. And people say Murray plays on injuries.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 26 January 2014 Author Posted 26 January 2014 Nadal is fooked he can barely move
Bobby Hundreds Posted 26 January 2014 Posted 26 January 2014 Gamesmanship through the roof here. Does he need some time off the tour for some reason?
Jimothy Posted 26 January 2014 Posted 26 January 2014 Gamesmanship through the roof here. Does he need some time off the tour for some reason? Nadal's middle name is gamesmanship. If it's not being injured when he's losing, it's pissing about taking his time between points. When he's been broken, watch him, he'll always take another 30 seconds in the chair when the umpire calls time, just likes to make the opponent wait.
foxes_rule1978 Posted 26 January 2014 Posted 26 January 2014 Well looks like Nadal has found his game, if anyone can come back from this situation with an injury it is Nadal.

Manwell Pablo Posted 27 January 2014 Posted 27 January 2014 Murray down to sixth in the Rankings.........
leicsmac Posted 28 January 2014 Posted 28 January 2014 Murray down to sixth in the Rankings......... Yup, and fully two thirds of his ranking points now come from only two tournaments - Wimbledon and Miami. Just shows how poor he was at the Masters tournaments outside Miami last year really - made him really reliant on his performances in the Aus Open, US Open and Wimby, and he's dropped big points from two of those now. Still, the difference between 5 and 8 in terms of the draws he'll get isn't very big - he'd be playing the same blokes in the quarterfinals either way, and there's only 1000 points between 3 and 6 in the rankings (and only around 1350 between 3 and 8) so there could be a lot of chopping and changing going on through the year. The only real difference for Murray is now he has a 50/50 chance of rocking up against Nadal or Djokovic in quarterfinals, rather than semi finals of tournaments. He does also have a pure profit opportunity at the French Open too where he's defending no points at all. If he can get back into the top 4 in the rankings in time for the grass court season he'll have done quite well. But to do that he needs a good showing at Indian Wells, Miami and throughout the tough clay season. We shall see.

Mind you Isner is hardly a clay court specialist.

Very true, and I don't think the abrupt change of surface is going to do his continued recovery much good either. If he can just make a reasonable stab at the claycourt Masters and perhaps a run to the QF of the French Open, that will give him a handy points boost in time for the grasscourt season. You're right in saying on clay Querrey and Isner are even worse on clay though, so I think he should come through against both of them. That said, the Bryans will render such discussion moot anyway.

No faith in young Kyle then?
leicsmac Posted 28 January 2014 Posted 28 January 2014 No faith in young Kyle then? On clay, against a partisan crowd and a big server? Nah. Though I'd take great delight in being wrong - either with him or our dubs pairing.
