3.30 am tonight for Murray, be interesting to see how he gets on with the heat and the back now the Gimmies are out the way.

Think I'll give it a miss, might have been tempted if it was before 01:00

Sleep is for the weak.

Went bed at 4am the other night, and I had work at 8am.

Hardcore.

Wait till you're nearly 30 with a full time job, a young child, and a competitive football game the next day, then try it. It'll hurt.

As me and my mates say.

Be Hardcore.

I think they should play the Aussie Open during our day, their night, so I can watch. Selfish bastards.

Would certainly solve the heat problem :D

Meant to rain today, temperatures set to drop into mid twenties.

Nadal v Monfils should be a good one. Even if Nadal wins in three, your sure Monfils will play some entertaining games.

Jerzy, Jerzy, Jerzy.

Watched Robson, awful performance from her. Watson lost as well, but put in a much better performance, did well to comeback, but failed towards the end.

Jerzy and Sabine on later, so might as well go bed for a bit.

Your boyfriend had a stinker earlier.

He wasn't favourite to win the match anyway, with some bookies.

Got a bit of a foot problem at the minute.

Heat is gone so no excuses for players any more.

Has Serena won the women's title already? Looks unstoppable.

Serena has had easy opponents, but of course you can't look past her. What happened last year, against Sloane Stephens surprised many though, even if Serena was injured in that match. She could face Eugenie Bouchard in the next round, like last year, it would be a great story, if Bouchard somehow beat her.

She dispatched of Hantichkova who has beaten Serena at the Aus Open with ease, she never got out of 3rd gear.

How many years ago was that though.

Hantuchova is nowhere near the player she was back then, it's not a surprise Daniela never gave Serena a game yesterday.

Players just have to believe they can beat Serena, or hopefully catch her on an off day, but they rarely happen.

Serena out in 3 sets to Ivanovic.

Apparently had a back injury. Should have pulled out eh? Rather than try and compete and lose, any slight injury should be enough to quit.

She said herself she should of.

However, the intensity and attack of Ana Ivanovic's performance should be the main focus, instead of Serena's back.

She played incredible, I haven't seen her play with that much confidence and attack since she was World Number 1 & French Open Winner.

But as I said the other day, players need to believe they can beat Serena and hopefully catch her on an off day, Ivanovic did just that last night.

Ivanovic v Bouchard I'm going to be erect for the whole match I think. Could be a medical emergency if it cos to 3 sets!

What about Li v Pennetta  :P

So we approach the business end of the tournament, four good quarterfinals to look forward to.

Djoko - Wawrinka has thrown up some epic contests in the past (like last year for example), but could just as easily be a formulaic straight sets for Novak. To be honest I'm not sure which one it's going to be this time, but given his form so far I'd say it's more likely to be the latter than the former...Nole through in 3 reasonably tough sets.

Berdych - Ferrer is an interesting one. Berd can hit anyone off the court if he's firing but if he's not Ferrer will do what Ferrer does best - outgrind him. Rekcon that's pretty much what that match will come down to, and I actually think Tomas will hit his straps today and beat Ferrer in 4.

Nadal - Dimitrov has the potential to be interesting if Grigor can bring as much of his young talent as he can to the table, but unless he does exactly that Nadal will be far too strong. He may well be anyway. Think Dimi will do enough to nick a set, but Nadal to come through in 4, reasonably comfortably.

Murray - Federer...well, given the form so far and their past matches, I do what I have done for most matches between these two and flipped a coin. It's that close, as it has been for some time now. The coin came down heads, and I have an inkling Murray now has the better of Fed in 5 set matches as well as Roger being due a dip in match form...so Murray in 4. But I'm in no way certain about that - wouldn't want to put any money on that match, anything could happen.

Genie Bouchard

Djokovic & Wawrinka giving us another cracker, Stan has become one of my faves in recent years, his backhand is my favourite shot in Tennis.

Posted

Stan is the man, he has improved so much, and after last year, he deserves this moment. What a competitor, awesome player.

Wawrinka or Berdych will be in the final then, Berdych finalist at Wimbledon a while back, back to back Grand Slam Semis for Wawrinka, surely it's his time?

This has turned very interesting.

Wawrinka with a Soderling-style late career renaissance. Fantastic stuff really - he's come so close to ousting Nole before it's good to see him finally do it.

Do however think this will result in a bit of a blowout for the final as the occasion will probably get to either Berdych or Stan against a vastly more experienced (in terms of GS finals) opponent. Whoever gets through the other side of the draw is going to be a massive favourite (provided it's not Dimitrov  lol )
