QPR trying to buy their way out of the league!

Paul Ince has managed a lot of clubs, I think he's a mug as a manager. I'm not saying he's as good as Redknapp (nowhere near) but managers do get plenty of jobs when they aren't all that amazing. The media profile comes from managing West Ham (lot of press support them) and Tottenham (media darlings), and for talking almost non-stop to the press, giving them plenty of stuff to work with and being the transfer deadline day hero of the wound down car window. If you talk to the press about virtually everything you are going to be liked.

That just reminded me that someone called B-net was spouting off how Ince was ten times the manager NP was at the start of the season and how NP would never ever manage in the premier league....(granted we're far from promoted yet)

For the record (and this is the point), I have no fascination for Redknapp. I don't care a jot how he does, what he does or who QPR are.

But to call him a 'Grade a mug' is barmy. Isn't it?

Not liking the bloke is one thing. Suggesting he's some 'mug' is another.

I suggest your interest in Redknapp is actually more than mine.

Well for someone with no fascination for him, you've certainly been jumping to his defence at every opportunity lately. The whole 'Redknapp is overrated' argument springs to mind.

I'll admit the bloke's done well to squeeze as much cash out of the clubs he's managed over the years, but in terms of his ability as a football manager and how he's gone about trying to get QPR promoted this season; yeah, I think he's been a right mug.

Not the point I was making.

Your point was that Harry can't be a mug, because he is wealthy, but he is acting like a mug, you can't deny that, his words and his actions completely contradict each other.

It doesn't matter how much money and how successful he has been, right now he is behaving like a mug with someone elses money.

Why does 'somebody else's money' matter?

All football managers spend 'somebody else's money'.

Sven spent 15 million pounds of 'somebody else's money'.

Two things.. Redknapp has shown himself to be no mug. Historically, on average, etc etc.

The season isn't over. To be writing off QPR'S chances with 15 matches left is daft.

When they don't get promoted, then I'll believe that Redknapp is basically over as a manager. As I've said now countless times, THEN he will lose credibility.

You are in being deliberately obtuse mode so I will keep it simple.

Redknapp says: They played like strangers out there

Redknapp does: Recruits Morrison and chases Parker

Do you not see the contradiction? That is why Rich called him a grade A mug, he identifies the problem then actively goes out to make it worse. Is that not the actions of a mug?

I'm not writing off their chances of promotion, I'm just saying that I think it's ridiculous that he's gone about trying to get them promoted by throwing millions of pounds about and collecting players like Panini stickers. Lost a game? Oh, better get another player in then. The bloke said himself that the problem on Saturday was that the players didn't know eachother well enough, that they weren't playing like a team. So what's his solution? Go out and buy another player! I don't know about you, but that doesn't strike me as the actions of a calm, rational manager. It strikes me as the actions of a desperate idiot.

Again... sigh... 'Mug' was the issue..

You're right. I've said you're right.

I far more commend how Pearson has done things than how Redknapp has done things.

Regarding Parker.. who knows? I don't rate him now as a player, but maybe Arry wants him because he has a calming influence? The type of off-field professional who can help sort-out the on-field problems. Pearson did this with GTF and surprise, surprise, although most on here were positive towards this, he hasn't featured for weeks.

So WE can do this, but QPR can't?

Who knows why he wants Parker? You don't, or do you?

I'm reserving judgement on Arry being a duffer THIS season until the end of the season.

Up until now, the fella has made fame and fortune out of football. As I said earlier, if that makes him a tool, give me a succesful man.

Finally... can anybody confirm whether Redknapp HAS actually lost the club money this season? In terms of players sold/wages saved and players signed/wages spent? If he hasn't the whole financial argument gets blown out of the water. Just wondered?

To be honest QPR are the only team i am concerned who can catch us.

If we mess up at Forest and they win their game in hand over burnley and we loose to them at home they will be 5 points behind.

I have a horrible feeling if we do loose to Forest the wheels could well and truely fall off for the rest of the run in. (I am praying this does not happen).

The problem is you are picking random questions and matching them to random answers.

Redknapp also said something along the lines of how he likes to have a creative spark and that was missing. (he quoted how he had Paul Merson and he needed something similar)

He then recruited Morrison (who also filled the void left by Taraabt)

He'll score on his debut, get a bunch of hype, then play like shit like the rest of QPR's team because he's probably on a stupid wage and doesnt give a shit.

Well constructed post..

I just looked at the QPR squad and it lists 42 players not inc Morrisson, they are a farce, how many midfielders do they need?

The wage bill must be enormous!

Morrison joins Carroll Wright Phillips, jeans, Barton, Kranjcar, Henry, Ephraim, Hoilett, Faurlin, O'Neill, and Benayoun as their midfield plus Matt Phillips who I think is injured.

Up front they have Johnson, Austin (injured) Keane,Doyle, Zamora, Sharif, Dellatorre and Maiga.

Plus 11 defenders I cannot be bothered to list.

Their squad is crazy in size and Harry still wants more players! Bankruptcy awaits if they don't go up.

lol

Emergency loan.... Yeah, because QPR are a) short of players which leads to b) especially short of midfielders.

Just let them do it. They've got individual ego's down there. I wouldn't want players like Assou-Ekotto (I know I single him out a lot but the guy just annoys me) playing for my club.

Posted

Isn't there a limit on how many loan players a team can sign in a season? QPR signed 4 loanees on deadline day and have added Morrison and aiming to get Parker.

I think there is only a limit in how many can play, Redknapp can continue trying to complete his sticker book, he just can't have them all in the same squad.

Actually can't believe some of the stuff I'm reading in this thread lol

Dunne: Free Transfer

Assou-Ekotto: On loan from Spurs

Kranjcar: On loan from Dynamo Kiev

Keane: On loan from Man Utd

Doyle: Free Transfer

Aaron Hughes Free Transfer

Not a single penny spent in transfer fees on any of them.

Not a penny? Kiev paid 7million for Nico Krancjar and you think they will just allow him to toddle off for free for a year? The fee for the loan would have been substanial let alone the wages. Same for BAE I imagine.

You missed Matt Phillips and Charlie Austin btw. The ones he paid massive over inflated fees for.

Lets be honest, we dont know for a fact what the terms are of any of these deals.

Whilst their squad is awash with Premier League rejects and they are above average spenders I don't believe it's as extravagant as some on here would have you believe.

Considering Joey Barton was wanted by Marseille, they couldnt afford his wages despite receiving champions league money and Barton is considered an "average earner" at the club I think its fair to say that their wage bill might be 'extravagant'.

It was 70million a year according to the Telegraph in December, that's more than triple what ours was under Sven. (and it was stated that is a very conservative estimate)

The have taken a major gamble here, they are the guy in a raffle who is committing suicide if he doesnt win it and he's now begging, stealing and borrowing to buy as many tickets as he can before May. Morrison and Parker look like the next two tickets.

Are they underachieving given the quality of their squad on paper? Yes

Did QPR make a raft of mistakes while Mark Hughes was the Manager? For me Yes

Was there a player power culture gone mad amongst their squad when Redknapp took over? God yes

Has Redknapp weeded out the worst offenders and replaced them with players with a point to prove? For me yes

Can I think of anyone who could do a better job as Manager of this QPR squad? No, Redknapp's strength is motivation.

Does anyone on here really know how much money QPR have spent in wages given they have also loaned out some of their larger earners? Nope

Have QPR spent more than most in our league? Probably

Will they be promoted? For me yes in 2nd place in my opinion.

1. No, they have a goalie on the bench on 90k a week. Players like Barton, BAE, Krancjar, Hill, Zamora, Johnson, Cesar, Jenas, Green - in fact I'm struggling to name many he has bought in who still have something to prove apart from Phillips, Austin and Hoilett.

2. If his strength is motvation and that squad is 4th in this league, I would dread to hear what you think his weaknesses are.

3. Probably? lol

I don't understand the fuss. Our side was hardly put together using green shield stamps.

As said above, it was obscene and still only less than half of QPR's bill, that said I'm glad we failed looking back and those high earners are mostly gone. Thank god for Mr Pearson eh and we didnt go for Arry.

Because some of us in this day and age of foriegn ownership and a a pursuit of happiness mindset now believe that managers and owners have a responsibility to not only manage a club to the best of their abilities but also to make sure that they are not risking the clubs future existence by chasing a goal for their own personal gain.

If it happened in any other business between an owner and management you would be held responsible, I believe the same should apply in football.
