Ade Akinbiyi

Recommended Posts

Before that season he reckoned we could qualify for Europe having lost 12 away games in a row and lost 10 out of 11 at the end of the previous season. The man is a clown who wasted millions.

For a couple of million Akinbiyi wouldn't have had the pressure on his shoulders, but at £5 million the pressure was enormous. Having said that, he missed some glorious chances that you'd expect most strikers to score. He doesn't come across as bitter which is credit to him because he suffered serious grief from the crowd.

Yeah different pressure from 2 million to 5 million..... but it doesnt alter the fact he was crap for us...

It doesn't, but he wouldn't have the national press and other fans on his back all the time as he suffered from. He'd have been another striker, but as a club record signing, in a struggling team it was a field day for ridicule.

You can't blame the player, if any player is being overpriced and a manager or club are willing to pay, and pay the sign on fee and increased wages, any player will take up the option!!!

Peter Taylor is to blame, no-one else.  Ade, on the pitch gave 100% week in, week out, even though he knew he did not have the talent, the guy to his credit, never stopped trying!!

my thoughts exactly. One of the reasons (well the one in addition to the fact he wasn't good enough) he missed so many, was because he never hid...always tried. Unfortunately for us and him, Its going to be an issue if you are not quite good enough and your confidence just keeps ebbing away.

This one is down to Peter Taylor..... Never to be forgiven....ever!! A complete pudding of a manager who's meteoric rise was only matched by his meteoric fall....with Junior Lewis in tow
