Haydos Posted 24 February 2014 Posted 24 February 2014 I'm a little behind here but I've just finished watching it. Best film I've seen in the last few years, really enjoyed it. There wasn't a whole lot of depth to it but I thought it was fvcking hilarious. Leo was obviously amazing, had great intensity and Jonah Hill seems to get funnier in everything I see him in (Also watched Jump Street again recently as well). So, thoughts?

deejdeej Posted 24 February 2014 Posted 24 February 2014 Saw this a few weeks ago. The missus dragged me along because I wasn't that fussed about seeing it. Very glad I did, great film and good mix of drama and humour.

Yes fantastic acting and yes funny.. But went on too long for me. I literally got bored near the end.

Struggled to understand how 45minutes of a film could get edited out for films in Dubai, then understood why as this film went on . Di Caprio and Hill were insanely good. Think the 'Cerebral Palsy stage' after having the intense hit of ludes and needing to drive his car is one of the funniest things I've seen in a film.

Can't criticise the lead performances mind.- it was just such a sorry film and i was well glad to get some fresh air.

I absolutely loved it.

Interesting, what may I ask were you expecting from an 18 certificate film directed by Scorcese? Costume dramas and rom-coms make me want to vomit, hence why I do not watch them

Just thinking at times what the set must have been like watching that, I was in tears by the time he pushed the door up with his leg. I honestly wasn't at all bored for the whole 3 hours, I thought it was funny enough to carry it into the last act where things start to unravel.

If you want the debauchery, drugs, sex and high life that goes with making money very very quickly and often fraudently, sometimes violently, then this film is for you. As I said earlier, its well acted and sometimes funny. For me, it just went on for too long and I literally got bored of the 'excess' if you like. I found the film an excellent portryal of the highs and lows of having a fookin fortune. They were snorting cocaine and downing sedatives like sweets. Good (if you like that sort of thing) but brilliant? Nah I was far more hooked on films like Casino (also full of sex and drugs) than I was this.

Haydos Posted 24 February 2014 Author Posted 24 February 2014 The boat FBI scene is great Agreed, the atmosphere of it was perfect and I think the actor week plays the detective was very good in that scene as well. The story might not have been great but the acting was fantastic across the board.

Christmas with the Kranks, Brawler, Wreckage just three off the top of my head.

Leo was absolutely fantastic in it Haydos. Highly believable, especially when doing his motivational speeches. The 'paralysis' scene I personally didn't find funny. You kinda knew it was coming (having downed three of those tablets) and I sat there thinking "you stupid bastards"..
