She is certainly braver than me that's for sure,i was attacked by a snake when I was younger, not anything impressive ,a slightly more venomous snake than a uk adder( nothing then)I was petrified for years and couldn't even watch one on tv,then when 19 and travelling Oz and not seeing one staying in a nice woody suburb in Sydney ( Newport Beach) where my mates uncle had a Brown snake that came in the garden often, which they called Trevor!as if a pet ,I thought its time to study these things and get over my fear. This knowledge has helped and although I'm not that keen they fascinate me more than any other creature. If I book an exotic holiday the 2 nd thing that comes into my head is what snakes are there.

Not snake/croc/spider/shark related but there was an amusing headline in the Cairns Post the other day:

"Chilled Out" - tropical cold snap has temperatures as low as 10C.

The article goes on to elaborate "Yesterday people in Cairns awoke to a shivering start with overnight temperatures falling to 16 degrees at 4am"

and "The coldest May on record in Cairns was May 26th 1953 when temperatures plummeted to about nine degrees"

As my brother pointed out, no wonder Aussies whine so much when they come to the UK

When I worked on the states if we had a day of grey clouds but warm humidity (loke today infact) all the british staff would be in t-shirts and shorts and the Aussies would all have big winter coats on!

Sounds about right. The PA at work just walked past in a coat and scarf, moaning about the cold. I'm in my usual t-shirt  :)

I put some pictures of my daughter in the paddling pool on facebook last year saying something like, "sun is shiing 19 degrees so obviously it is paddling pool time!" and my sister in law in Melbourne said it was 19 degrees there and they were out wearing winter coats.  Pussies.
