Ashley Posted 17 March 2014 Posted 17 March 2014 Riyad Mahrez came from France in a Renault Clio scored a goal done a dance and now he is a hero. Seikh song at City?
El Sieffsi Posted 17 March 2014 Author Posted 17 March 2014 The song has a connection to Dean Martin in 1953.Napoli too.Again..I apologise for making a new thread concerning chants..I just think songs are a better thing..are we really going to the Prem with what we chant?..with a few airings of old school chants that don't get finished.."Iwan is a Welshman" being 1. I sit in the Kop..so if anyone from the Sk singing section reads this..let me know if there is usually a spare seat as I will be happy to move and help to get some decent songs going.
FoxDownSouth Posted 17 March 2014 Posted 17 March 2014 There was a top quality effort at Bournemouth away. Jobyfox Posted 17 March 2014 Posted 17 March 2014 It bloody fits I tell ya..the transition from "that's" to "Mahrez" when sung to the tune..there is an almost inaudible "a" which makes it fit. Or how about "that'sa Mahreeez" as the song has some connection to Napoli I think? You're probably correct about the music..I just think chants should be about the players..not what tune is sung. We have Kasabian I guess..let's not even consider Showaddywaddy!! I think chants don't need current tunes as they seem to fade away faster than chants to tunes from years ago. And YES..I am Lionel Blair when charades is concerned. No! You're trying too hard to make a name fit a song it obviously doesn't. If you change the "Mah" to a "Zam" and the "rez" an "ora" then it might just work.
boosmanana Posted 17 March 2014 Posted 17 March 2014 Just can't get enough. Liverpool do their version for Suarez. Mahrez fits in perfectly.
Baloo Posted 17 March 2014 Posted 17 March 2014 His name is Riyad and he dances down the wiiiiing, He scores our goals for fun and makes the city siiiiing! To Duran Duran as suggested above

El Sieffsi Posted 23 March 2014 Author Posted 23 March 2014 Has sweet fa to do with syllables, it's about the notes it's held for. In the song it's crotchet, crotchet, minim, minim and a half, minim and a half. As it's 3/4 time signature, crotchet is 1 beat, minim 2, minim and a half 3 - so 10 beats: 3 bars and a crotchet. Elongate the S of thats and it buggers up the timing, it would sound horrible, because you turn a crotchet into a minim and force the final part to come in part way through a minim, so instead it'd be three crotchets, two minim and halfs - that would sound very choppy for the way it's supposed to be sung. Elongate Rez to 9 beats though, combined with a small pitch change one beat in to replicate the change to minims and it'd fit very well.Correct..I think?..I don't know the technical terms that you refer to..but in layman's terms..extending a note is as good as a syllable. Even an extended pause can make up for a syllable..which is why Knockaerts song fits.. "Dont tell my heart..my achy breaky heart"..10 syllables "Don't sell Knockhaert....Anthony Knockaert"..9 syllables. The extended pause makes it fit. Maybe I should have wrote it how it's to be sung.."thaat's Maahreeezz"..the extended notes make it fit.. I think that's the gist of it..I may be wrong..but it fits. I think the second and third verses need to be switched..as I think it makes more sense that he "flip flaps" before he "turns and shoots". I may edit it after my shift to "song" version. I will be singing this Tuesday night..feel free to join in.
