Dan Posted 4 April 2014 Posted 4 April 2014 I'd love to know what Sven supposedly said in interviews that was of any interest.
Footballwipe Posted 4 April 2014 Posted 4 April 2014 Shame that Daily Mail article (isn't that the second or third love-in feature they've had on us recently) ruins its credibility right at the end with the misinformed FFP paragraph.
Hungry Hungry Fox Posted 4 April 2014 Posted 4 April 2014 "‘He likes walking, oh my gosh. We went to Slovenia one pre-season. We would go to the top of the mountain but he walked up and down as afternoon relaxation. Frightening.’" Loved this bit from the Daily Fail article
Manwell Pablo Posted 4 April 2014 Posted 4 April 2014 Nigel gets a lot of stick, the general opinion of him is that he will bore you to sleep. Personally I think he's got a fantastic personality in interviews, Straight talking and to the blunt, quite blunt, But it's clear he has a massive intelligence and knowledge of the game and what it requires, Chucks the odd joke and laugh in there, but absolutely professional, And it makes me appreciate the extent his platform of professionalism extends, Everything about him and the way he has built this club back up is outstanding. I cannot see where the "boring" taunt can stem from? No he doesnt jump around and fall off the chair like that idiot Holloway did, But he answers questions in extensive detail, and I like to see that in a manager, He is absolutely positive in his play, yet has his feet firmly on the ground. I could only see this being a negative if it were a manager like olly, I could imagine players getting complacent, However no danger with nigel, The job is not finished until the last blow on the refs whistle at doncaster. A fantastic judge of the game, And a credit to himself and our club. I learn something from every interview he does, And it gives you an insight into what you think he's like on matchday, The players learn something at every pre match, Half time and full time, Which is probably why our 2nd halves are generally better than the first. Opinions on his interviews, and his personality? Strangely since we started winning every week, the wankers who would use his personality, interview technique, dress sense, hair, tone of voice, choice of in car air freshener and aftershave seem to be able to look past these annoyances, or even better claim that "he's changed"
ealingfox Posted 4 April 2014 Posted 4 April 2014 He was never boring, or dour, or arrogant. This will seem strongly worded, but it's no coincidence at all that the people who thought that came across as generally less intelligent. It requires a higher perspicacity to appreciate more subtle character traits like a dry sense of humour, or being guarded. And it also takes a bit of intelligence not to extrapolate things Pearson said in interviews to Stringer to reflect his whole personality. Sorry if it hurts, but the truth often does. He has not changed himself significantly, only the contextual facts around him have, as those who had him wrong before have merely done the necessary mental gymnastics to avoid admitting they were wrong. As for 'don't like it, don't come', well I think it's plain for all to see who was right all along isn't it? Last but not least, I wonder how many of these thousands of people who would refuse to renew or buy a ST because Pearson was our manager, will be in attendance tonight?
mrgarrison16 Posted 4 April 2014 Posted 4 April 2014 All of my football supporter friends really don't like nige. They all think he appears arrogant and smug. Obviously I disagree, plus on of them is a Leeds fan so he doesn't count
dmayne7 Posted 5 April 2014 Posted 5 April 2014 The end of his interview with Stringer last night made me laugh. Nigel's booze cruise
Guest Col city fan Posted 5 April 2014 Posted 5 April 2014 This season has shown a big difference in Pearson's demeanour. He's simply appeared calmer and more content. I think he still can't stand Stringer though.
KP Fox Posted 5 April 2014 Posted 5 April 2014 Great bloke! He took us up as champions before from the pits of where Milan and Olly took us and then came back again to take us back where we belong as champions once more. Well done Nigel and well done Top for bringing him back. WEll done too for every single City player who played this season!
