Nigel pearsons interviews/Personality

Recommended Posts

Nigel gets a lot of stick, the general opinion of him is that he will bore you to sleep.

Personally I think he's got a fantastic personality in interviews, Straight talking and to the blunt, quite blunt, But it's clear he has a massive intelligence and knowledge of the game and what it requires, Chucks the odd joke and laugh in there, but absolutely professional, And it makes me appreciate the extent his platform of professionalism extends, Everything about him and the way he has built this club back up is outstanding.

I cannot see where the "boring" taunt can stem from? No he doesnt jump around and fall off the chair like that idiot Holloway did, But he answers questions in extensive detail, and I like to see that in a manager, He is absolutely positive in his play, yet has his feet firmly on the ground.

I could only see this being a negative if it were a manager like olly, I could imagine players getting complacent, However no danger with nigel, The job is not finished until the last blow on the refs whistle at doncaster.

A fantastic judge of the game, And a credit to himself and our club.

I learn something from every interview he does, And it gives you an insight into what you think he's like on matchday, The players learn something at every pre match, Half time and full time, Which is probably why our 2nd halves are generally better than the first.

Opinions on his interviews, and his personality?

I love em. He's frank and coy at the same time. I've never given a toss whether post match interviews are informative or entertaining, and if we've played poorly you know Pearson will have bollocked them to high heaven, he just won't come outvand say so publicly.

He is an intelligent bloke and you can work out what kind of bloke he's like judging by yhe respect the players have for him.

That's enough for me

I think he is fantastic in interviews personally. Always thought that. He can be so sarcastic and ruthless.

That interview about the wild dogs etc is one of tge funniest things I've read lol

Well I love him so I agree that all of his interviews are interesting.

It does tilt me when people say that he is boring but I think that that is down to ignorance, I also believe that Nigel enjoys people calling him boring as he knows that they don't know the truth. I think it helps with regard to people probably not being that interested in him whereas your blockheads such as Holloway probably get stopped all the time for autographs.

What I do know though is that Nigel treats the fans with great respect and any who have met him can testify to this. I'm looking forward to how he is once we get promoted and he achieves the goal that he has been working on for years, I think he will really be able to relax then as the pressure will be off.

The thing I've been impressed with most this season has been his substitutions, we are all managers sat in the stand thinking he needs to do this, that and the other, and when he does something different I think WTF has he done that for. Most recent being against Yeovil, obviously something needed changing but who could honestly have said they would have put Dyer on for Was?

Infact I'm struggling to remember when his changes haven't been correct.

But yes how he conducts himself is very impressive, he seems to have a brilliant rapport with the players as well.

As the media clamour for interviews locally and nationally has increased, I think his comfort zone has, too. He has a dry sense of humour and he has now created a niche for himself by playing to that. The quality of interview he does for national media is a step-change above the stuff he trots out with local media. I find his interviews these days to be professional, occasionally insightful and always entertaining.

I find that Nigel actually ANSWERS the questions put before him. A lot of players and managers go down the same lines and give the same old replies but he actually listens to the question and gives an honest response. There is no pandering to the media and comes over as a very intelligent, focused man. He's really come into his own this year and I can see him being a good premiership manager with the attributed he has.

I do like to hear Shakeys interviews too. Always gives good answers and had me in stiches a couple of weeks ago when talking to Ian Stringer. When asked about the health of NP he stated that "It would be wrong of me to talk about another persons health Ian, but when he's fit again I'm sure he will fill you in.......probably literally" Brilliant.  lol  lol

If you listen to the people that know him well, they all say he's a great man and very very funny.

I'm just glad that he's doing a good job for us.

Last season he came across as arrogant and at times, it got a bit boring with the same arrogant excuses, and it put me right off him after the " if you don't like it, don't come" comment, and I aired my discontent on here at the time.

I then at the start of the season commented how much I like pearsons new, more open public image, and having a very good season on the pitch has I believe made it possible for him to be relaxed in the media.

I just hope next season he can remain the same as this, because let's not be fooled by it, he will be under pressure from the start to achieve a very hard job of keeping us in the top flight.

I hope he does well next season and he remains with us for years to come, in the top flight.

Good read that, though not sure what to make of the last bit:

But Pearson is also working to get the club compliant with Financial Fair Play rules. Even so, with losses recently posted at £34m for last year, it is highly conceivable promotion will cost Leicester around £20m in fines.

It is a price worth paying for fans long starved of the big time and would give Pearson an opportunity to pop the corks and showcase his abilities under a brighter spotlight.

I've honestly no idea why some people complain about his interviews. It makes no difference to me if he doesn't say anything interesting. Likewise I don't find the likes of Mourinho or Holloway very entertaining. Just because they're trying to be different doesn't make them interesting people.

Anyway, I agree that Nigel always comes across as an intelligent and thoughtful bloke, that is more important for me. I trust him, unlike Holloway who always came across as a thicko trying to compensate with silly phrases or Sousa who literally had no idea what he was saying or how to say it in English, or Sven who just sounded like a total loser.

Besides, he is funny, he's just very dry and subtle. Which is funnier than 'look at me, I say a load of silly things so people will forget I'm a shite manager'.

Thing with Nigel is that he doesn't seem concerned with being a media darling.

He knows what his job is and that's to be the manager of Leicester City.

So what if he doesn't win BBC sports personality of the year? He's about to win the Championship title.

Besides, forget his interviews. Tunnel Cam is where it's at.

I love seeing a young player from another team come into the tunnel for nigel to grab them and pull them back for a word or a joke, Cresswell of ipswich was one ;)

Good article, but my lasting memory of it will be the 8 hottest anchors in sports' journalism!! I need to get out more, methinks.

That was pre Schlupp though... Who knows now.

Think Spearing was another one too.

He did used to be defensive to the point of being boring to be fair. Seems managerial success has given him the confidence to express himself a bit more openly and that has allowed us to see the much more interesting personality that lurks within.

What the bit about FFP means is that the journalist doesn't know what he is talking about (this is, after all, the Daily Heil). FFP does not apply to last season, which is when we made the £34m loss. The rules kick in this season, during which (a) Pearson and co have been cutting costs by shipping out overpaid players and (b) the owners converted their interest-bearing loans to equity and bought the stadium. All of this will go a long way towards cutting costs.

City may make a loss this year, but it is almost certain to be a lot less than £34m, so the fine - if there is one - will be commensurately less.

I like his interviews, doesn't make lists of excuses, pin all the blame on referees, bang on about finances or delve into mind games (which basically is code for slagging off/ insulting other clubs).

Since when have our owners been billionaires??

Pearson leaving for Hull before returning to Leicester once Thai billionaire Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha had taken ownership

Well Vichais worth in the last Forbes list was 1.6 billion and KingPower the company will be worth more than that

Probably something along the lines of "how d'ya fancy joining a proper team in the summer eh Aaron?"
