El Sieffsi Posted 4 April 2014 Posted 4 April 2014 Does anyone really care whether people think you're a certain kind of fan? You do your bit however you support Leicester..from near or far. It's just an opinion of some people who you will most likely never interact with away from the match. I will say one thing though..to the "new" fans..please make an effort to learn the names of some of the players at least. Next season will attract a lot of new fans obviously..some just to see Man City/Liverpool or whichever Prem team play..and financially for the club that's good. But..it's when you have the mindset of wanting to see LEICESTER CITY play against these Prem teams..THAT would make me consider you as a fan..no matter how many games you attend home or away. Just my opinion.
MattGamble92 Posted 5 April 2014 Posted 5 April 2014 I have heard this term used a few times now and never in a positive way. I was born in Leicester, I have always lived in Leicester and enjoy listening to the games on the radio. I really don't like crowds so have never been to a game. However, it occurs to me that attracting new fans is exactly what the club needs to do. More fans brings more money. Why is the idea of new fans being attracted by the clubs success such a bad thing? Ever thought of being a cov fan?

Its not new, Forest, Derby, Wolves, Villa, Coventry and Leicester supporter, have followed other local/derby teams Some fans will come from our neighbours next season, the Midlanders are moaning bolshi 2 timing group of pie eaters, I am proud to say.
TJB-fox Posted 5 April 2014 Posted 5 April 2014 Not really people like the OP who are classed as plastic fans its the stupid clowns who boo and don't have a clue about football/Leicester. Couple of people round me were moaning that 'Jamie Varney' wasn't picked. Stupidity on so many levels-infuriating
Guest MarshallForEngland Posted 5 April 2014 Posted 5 April 2014 No idea how anybody has managed to find out the attendance history of the people "leaving on 80 minutes", "booing", "carrying a flask" etc. I've been sitting in the same seat for about 8 years, and some of the "die hard fans" (whatever that means) near me do all of those things. There's a seat up for grabs next to me every week, different person each game, and I honestly can't remember one of them booing or even moaning at all, and lots of them are going entirely because they want to watch us when we're likely to win. Easy to blame it on glory hunters or plastic fans, but genuinely the most irritating and unbearable people I have met at games, home and away, are the "real fans" some of you keep talking about.
Mark 'expert' Lawrenson Posted 5 April 2014 Posted 5 April 2014 Attended my first game in 1979, I have been a fan ever since, but not attended every game by any means. When your young, live at home and have no responsibilities going to the football is easy, then come the wife, the mortgage, the kids and sometimes whether you like it or not going to the football is no longer priority number 1. Not attending games as much as you would like does not mean you stop being a fan of the club. I imagine a lot of the supporters who use the word plastic are still young, no responsibilities, well I wish we could fast forward 10 years and see if those same supporters have attended every game. What annoys me are Leicester people who support Chelsea, Man Utd etc who are now showing an interest in Leicester. That is another thing entirely. You should support your home town club, 1 team end of. These are the glory hunters.
davieG Posted 5 April 2014 Posted 5 April 2014 the idiots that have been booing the last few home games can **** off though, they haven't been interested for 10 years now suddenly we are near a promotion and they turn up and boo when we aren't 4-0 up after 10 mins Like there's never been any booing when the grounds half empty, it's probably those same fans that were booing the last few games.
Nick Posted 5 April 2014 Posted 5 April 2014 Loooooooooool scared of people. Heard it ****ing all So somebody comes on - a fellow Leicester fan and is honest, wears their heart on their sleeve about things they find difficult and you make fun of them? What does that make you buddy?
Pen 3 Posted 5 April 2014 Posted 5 April 2014 I can't think of a better thread recently - a discussion about a growing fan base, excitement about the club, lots more of us able to get to games after breaks (for whatever reason), it means only one thing, sit back and enjoy the ride and let's make sure we all get up to Anfield, Old Trafford; down to White Hart Lane, Stamford Bridge etc The more the merrier as far as I'm concerned 'cause god knows there's nothing worse than watching us in a half empty stadium with no atmosphere and it wasn't long ago when that is what we would have been writing about.

Fickle fans who only turn up when we are doing really well have a fickle attitude that is not welcome.
Bayfox Posted 5 April 2014 Posted 5 April 2014 So somebody comes on - a fellow Leicester fan and is honest, wears their heart on their sleeve about things they find difficult and you make fun of them? What does that make you buddy? A tw@t?
Bettsj2 Posted 5 April 2014 Posted 5 April 2014 Spot on. What makes a football fan is completely subjective. Just because you might attend every game home and away doesn't make you any more a fan than someone who only attends home games, or just a few games a season. Following football is a personal thing. The 'loyal supporters' chants used to make me cringe. Probably sung by kids with their heads well and truly up their own arses. THIS The last time I had a season ticket, the guy who sat behind me moaned all game, slagged every player off and the only thing he ever used to shout out was 'YOU'RE SHIT LEICESTER. YOU'RE ****ING SHIT!'. He was at every single home game. I go to about 5 a year now when i'm back in the City and a couple of aways when I can and when i'm there i sing my support for the team from start to finish. Who is the better fan? If I bought a season ticket and came back for every home game, am I now plastic but the other dude who moans 100% of the time is a 'real' fan?
ramaiya2 Posted 5 April 2014 Posted 5 April 2014 Admittedly I have not been to a game this season, but have been to at least 4 home games a seasons including the one when we got relegated to league 1. My work commitments mean that I cannot get to every home game on a Saturday. I have taken my son to home games and to be quite honest, did not want to take him again after the swearing that we both witnessed I also shop at LCFC regular and try and get the latest kit. I can't really call myself a glory hunter because I was with LCFC when we were relegated, I have not been to a home game this season when we are doing so well. Does this make me a plastic fan? If so that's fine with me
jamfox Posted 5 April 2014 Posted 5 April 2014 Exactly. Fickle fans who only turn up when we are doing really well have a fickle attitude that is not welcome. To be fair as any one who goes knows all to well , there are plenty of regulars who are negative and seem to turn up to moan every week. that kind off sounds like an excuse to put down the people who don't go as much? massive respect the loyal but if you have been brought out of the woodwork and want a piece of Leicester's season that's fine by me.
