Rincewind Posted 26 May 2014 Posted 26 May 2014 I thought his parents were wealthy enough to pay for specialist treatment? They said they informed the authorities. If they knew about his condition they could have had him sanctioned when younger. Seeing psychiatrists is common for the better off. It is only the poor that miss out on care as specialist treatment is not always available for free. The video was eerie. The way he laughed was like something out of a comic book villain. Never thought it would be real life.
MooseBreath Posted 26 May 2014 Posted 26 May 2014 Seems very much from the Patrick Bateman school of sociopaths, except for the part about not getting laid. Watching his other videos it seems that him doing something terrible was just a matter of time. You've got to question how this wasn't spotted by people close to him.
Harry - LCFC Posted 28 May 2014 Posted 28 May 2014 Hope this doesn't sound crude but watching his videos is almost like seeing a film. You can tell by his mannerisms and the words he uses that he's tried to create a character for himself. Not only that, he's actually built a sort of story - one of the videos clearly leads into the last one. I agree with Moose, people should've seen this. He knew what he was doing in advance.

They called the police a couple of weeks before. Unfortunately some people are very good as convinving the authorities everything is fine.

The language and mannerisms he uses are straight out of the misc./pick-up artist communities -the obsession with alpha and beta males, the general misogyny and self-entitlement with regards to women: I'd be surprised if he didn't actually mean it, that sort of attitude seems to be thriving (I'd suspect in no small way a reaction to the tumblr feminists - i.e. The ones who've taken feminism through to misandry, but that's a different discussion). They did, his parents called the police, but they neither watched the videos or searched his house - a relatively small job that would have stopped this.
Rincewind Posted 29 May 2014 Posted 29 May 2014 The police probably talked to him but as he was not openly showing signs of madness and convinced them that he was OK.
Finnaldo Posted 29 May 2014 Posted 29 May 2014 The police probably talked to him but as he was not openly showing signs of madness and convinced them that he was OK. A sociopath?
Finnegan Posted 29 May 2014 Posted 29 May 2014 A sociopath? I understand psychopathy is a little bit vogue at the moment but I think a few people need to read up on asperger syndrome. Obviously there's symptoms that overlap with all sorts of disorders and ailments, so making snap judgements off something as generic as "being hard to read" or "being distant" or "struggles with empathy" is very misleading.

As a father of a child with AS, I have an in-depth understanding of the condition. Unfortunately, It*s not clear to me what it is that you're trying to say.

I'd guess at it being about people labelling people as sociopaths/psychopaths without any real justification, simply because it's the easy thing to do? If so, he's right - these are the actions of a twisted person, but that doesn't make them a sociopath.
BoneDog Posted 29 May 2014 Posted 29 May 2014 I always thought that a sociopath is very skilled at picking up ladies. Charming and all that, so I doubt this lad was one if his virgin claims are true. I didn't know that he had some kind of mental problems beforehand, but have heard he was known to have some. Wouldn't be surprised if he was on some kind of psychotropic drugs (or whatever they're called). The Yanks are pumping their kids full of them according to the stats. Dangerous drugs and many of these killing spree folk are on them.
Finnaldo Posted 29 May 2014 Posted 29 May 2014 Sorry guys, I didn't mean he was a sociopath, that's what I thought Ken was trying to convey.
Rincewind Posted 30 May 2014 Posted 30 May 2014 I thought a sociopath was someone that has no concept of right or wrong which is how this guy came across by saying the victims deserved to be punished and he was quite happy to do the punishing. He only saw himself as the victim not the others. Maybe it was the wrong label but from the video that is how he came across. Obviously I do not know the full extent of his condition so I was just going from what I saw and what he said.

Depends what you're talking about specifically when you talk about psychotropic drugs - that covers everything from anti-anxiety meds like diazepam to LSD. If it's the meds, then as far as the reports go he was prescribed them but refused to take them.
