Mack Posted 16 June 2014 Posted 16 June 2014 A piece about people changing Football Club allegiance. Seems to be an unspoken reality... http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/simon-mack/a-football-divorce-the-un_b_5498387.html?utm_hp_ref=tw
Dan Posted 16 June 2014 Posted 16 June 2014 I'll have a read of this properly when the Germany Portugal game is over but I think if you change your club then either; a.. your heart was never in the initial club in the first place b.. your initial club was one you had no actual connection with and you supported them due to your success c.. your initial club was someone like Cardiff
Guest ttfn Posted 16 June 2014 Posted 16 June 2014 B for me. Supported Manchester United until I was 17. Couldn't give two shits about them now.
Stadt Posted 16 June 2014 Posted 16 June 2014 I wouldn't want to support Millwall in the first place. Disgusting club.
SystonFox Posted 16 June 2014 Posted 16 June 2014 B for me. Supported Manchester United until I was 17. Couldn't give two shits about them now. How do you sleep at night?

Your old club goes under and no new team replaces it. But then I still think I'd just follow a few teams casually rather than full on support a new team.
Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 16 June 2014 Posted 16 June 2014 Anyone who switches the clubs they support beyond a very young age is obviously not a real fan, anyone that thinks otherwise wouldn't be a proper fan either. Your club is in your blood and nothing changes that.

Nalis Posted 16 June 2014 Posted 16 June 2014 Seen a brilliant story on here about some guy who supported Leicester basically because he followed Dennis Wise but stopped at Leicester as his mum wouldn't let him support Millwall.
Saxondale Posted 16 June 2014 Posted 16 June 2014 Interesting article, especially the Millwall fan. He has an excuse - ie. Millwall is a disgrsceful club supported by unpleasant, racist, inbred retards. The Brighton bloke is on shakier ground. I can't be bothered to re-read the article to ascertain timescales, but I do wonder if his switch coincided with Brighton's lovely new ground and relative success.
Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 16 June 2014 Posted 16 June 2014 Well that's that then. Close thread. Anyone can support a team however they want, it's not my place to say and all this 'tin pot' and 'plastic' stuff that gets thrown around on here, not interested in any of that and it's fine to be a fan of football or to like certain teams over others. I just know through being a Leicester City fan for as long as I can remember how much the club means to me and nothing, absolutely nothing could make me stop supporting Leicester City and support another team. I've stuck by the club through all the hard times and thoroughly enjoyed all the good times. That's what being a proper fan of a football club is all about for me, people are welcome to do and think what they want but anyone who goes from supporting one team to another and feel they really support them to the level I do Leicester City, well they just don't, because it can't possibly mean as much to them as it does to me knowing full well I am a Leicester supporter until the day I die.

This is all fine, but it's not what you said above. Either way it doesn't bother me, I don't think I particularly need to justify my support - the hours I've pissed away on here should be enough to demonstrate the importance of Leicester in my life.
Finnegan Posted 16 June 2014 Posted 16 June 2014 B for me. Supported Manchester United until I was 17. Couldn't give two shits about them now. Let's be honest pal, the last bit isn't completely accurate.
