docho66 Posted 17 June 2014 Posted 17 June 2014 Hi. I thought I would seek some advice on what you guys think would be the best Cigar for a wedding in summer? I have been tasked to get the Cigars and Whisky for my friends wedding next month. I need help and advice on what brands/size/strengths you would recommend for such an occasion. We're all light smokers and novices - so don't have much of a clue what would be the best. Generally, I am thinking a medium strength/flavoured Cigar would cut it. Size wise, I don't think we want to go for a full Churchill sized due to the limited time we will have to enjoy. Thanks in advance for your help and advice!
Mike Oxlong Posted 17 June 2014 Posted 17 June 2014 He should ditch her between the stag do and the wedding and enjoy the sweet taste of the close but no cigar
AndWhat? Posted 17 June 2014 Posted 17 June 2014 Romeo y Julieta. Beautiful cigars, can easily get a good hour smoke time from the Churchills though! Just make sure you get a decent cutter, cause if you **** up the cut you **** up the whole smoke.
pSinatra Posted 17 June 2014 Posted 17 June 2014 I'm a cigar smoker & usually smoke Cafe Cremes.......or if the shop sells them, a much cheaper brand. They are my every day cigar, but I do occasionally like to treat myself. I love an Edmundo (a big fattie) & I usually buy Montecristo. They are about £60 for a pack of 3 tubes. They take around 4 hours each to smoke. It sounds horrible but there's nothing better than sitting out on a warm summers evening, a decent single malt & a Cuban on the go. There's all sorts of sizes to choose from. From the sounds of it, maybe a half corona would fit the bill. They are quite chunky but probably not so big that you can't get your gob round it & take so long to smoke that they make you feel ill. There's too many to list & prices can get ridiculous. Similar to wine, the country they are from can mean vast differences in the taste & the production year can add to subtle differences in taste. If you're not big on cigars, I don't think it's worth going mental & spending loads. A pack of Henry Wintermans half corona's are about £10 for a pack of 5. You can still pretend you're Scarface.
Webbo Posted 17 June 2014 Posted 17 June 2014 I always have a cigar on holiday. I had a big, thick one (don't be crude ) last year but couldn't manage it in one go. Cigar lightweight.
Guest Bilo Posted 17 June 2014 Posted 17 June 2014 Romeo y Julieta. Beautiful cigars, can easily get a good hour smoke time from the Churchills though! If not Romeo y Julieta, try some Partagas.

I need to understand this because I'm always a bit confused when I see people buy Cafe Cremes, do you smoke Cigars as though they were cigarettes?
pSinatra Posted 17 June 2014 Posted 17 June 2014 I need to understand this because I'm always a bit confused when I see people buy Cafe Cremes, do you smoke Cigars as though they were cigarettes? It does take a little bit of getting used to, smoking a cigar. I used to smoke cigarettes, gave up & when I started smoking again I went onto cigars......in the hope of smoking a lot less. I probably inhale about half the smoke from a cigar, as opposed to all the smoke from a cigarette. I used to smoke over 20 a day, but now smoke about 5-10 cigars, depending on what kind of day I've had & how drunk I am. Cafe Cremes are easy to smoke & can be smoked relatively quickly. If I smoked Edmundos all day, I'd never get anything done & I would probably be dead.
docho66 Posted 20 June 2014 Author Posted 20 June 2014 Thanks for all the help people! I went to the tobacconist in Nottingham - he was extremely helpful and he agreed that a smooth Romeo y Julieta was just right. I stuck to Junior Coronas just in case they're not to everyone's liking.
VLC86 Posted 21 June 2014 Posted 21 June 2014 The best cigar for a wedding is undoubtedly a pork cigar
