Here are three of the most outrageous bets we’ve dug out Paddy’s Premier League book this week.

 

Scorecast: David Nugent to score first and Leicester to beat Chelsea 1-0
One punter has stuck £1 on at 275/1

• Leicester have played Chelsea away 53 times, winning just five of those matches. A pretty worrying strike rate of just 9.4 per cent
• Jose Mourinho has lost just one Premier League game at home in 77 games as manager of Chelsea. That was a 2-1 defeat to Sunderland towards the end of last season
• David Nugent has made 64 Premier League appearances but scored just nine goals at Portsmouth and Burnley. Last season in the Championship however, he managed 20 goals in 46 games and had a conversion rate of 18 per cent.

Jose Mourinho very rarely gets beat at Stamford Bridge in the league, and the way Chelsea effortlessly went through the motions to beat Burnley 3-1 on Monday, it looks very unlikely that fellow new-comers Leicester will pose too many problems. If they are to steal three points from the Bridge it is likely to be a sneaky 1-0 victory but doubling that up with David Nugent to get that goal is insane.

Scorecast: Martin Skrtel to score first and Liverpool to beat Man City 3-0
One punter has got £1.50 riding on it at 650/1

 

• Liverpool have beaten Man City 3-0 four times away from home in their history. In 1976, 1980, 1991 and most recently in 2002 when Michael Owen bagged himself a hat-trick
• Last season Martin Skrtel scored an incredible seven league goals for Liverpool (more than Philippe Coutinho!) and had an even more staggering conversion rate of 50 per cent
• It has been almost four years since Man City lost 3-0 at home. Arsenal won a Premier League game 3-0 at the Etihad in October 2010 with Samir Nasri, Alexandre Song and Nicklas Bendtner grabbing the goals

Monday night’s game between City and Liverpool gives both teams the chance to land the first blow in this season’s title race. Liverpool’s recent record at the Etihad is far from promising (one win in their last eight league games there) however that hasn’t stopped one punter banking on a 3-0 win for the Reds. It is yet to be seen whether Martin Skrtel can recapture his prolific goalscoring form, but even at that, expecting Liverpool to win 3-0 at City is stretching it a touch.

Scorecast: Romelu Lukaku to score first, but Arsenal to beat Everton 6-1
One punter has £2 on at 1500/1

• Lukaku has scored two goals in three games he has played for Everton against Arsenal. Last year the striker 15 goals in 31 games and racked up a conversion rate of 21 per cent
• Arsenal have beaten Everton 6-1 away twice in their history. The first time was all the way back in 1958, but more recently they won in August 2009 with Denilson starting the rout and Cesc Fabregas bagging a brace
• Everton have conceded exactly six twice before in the Premier League. Once in that defeat to Arsenal, and in 2002 when Newcastle hammered the Toffees 6-2 at St James’ Park

Saturday’s late game between the Gunners and Everton has the potential to be a cracker, and one punter in particular will be hoping it’s a seven-goal thriller. Lukaku has a decent strike rate and caused Arsenal problems last year, but whether Arsene Wenger’s side can bounce back from going a goal down to knock six past Tim Howard is another story all together.
