weller54 Posted 28 August 2014 Posted 28 August 2014 With the possibility of Cambiasso joining us and bringing his vast experience to our ranks, what other players can you think of that were brought to the club in the past that were immediately influential.....
weller54 Posted 28 August 2014 Author Posted 28 August 2014 I can kick this off and suggest... Jon Sammels who we signed from Arsenal, I remember him bringing 'class ' to our midfield at the time.
weller54 Posted 28 August 2014 Author Posted 28 August 2014 Robert Mancini. Extremely short lived though, how many games did he play for us.... 8-10????
Guest Col city fan Posted 28 August 2014 Posted 28 August 2014 Steve Claridge, Tony Cottee, Tiim Flowers, Pontus Kaamark (one of the best full backs I've ever seen)
ROB-THE-BLUE Posted 28 August 2014 Posted 28 August 2014 Iwan Roberts made a massive difference straight away when Brian Little signed him in 1993
bigbiff Posted 28 August 2014 Posted 28 August 2014 Wood last year with what was it now 152 goals in about 3 games ;-) Ok it was a flash in the pan so to speak and not our 1st choice any more, but made a big impact from the off
weller54 Posted 28 August 2014 Author Posted 28 August 2014 Muzzy Izzet and Matt Elliot. Can't remember them making an immediate impact in their first few games for us though??
weller54 Posted 28 August 2014 Author Posted 28 August 2014 David Speedie Yes he did!!..very much an early Paul Dickov type of player!
Jimothy Posted 28 August 2014 Posted 28 August 2014 Extremely short lived though, how many games did he play for us.... 8-10???? 5
bigbiff Posted 28 August 2014 Posted 28 August 2014 Stan collymore?? Hard to say influential most of the time his head wasn't in football, drugs possibly thats y he never had a proper contract. That said I liked him and wish he could of played longer
Carlos88LCFC Posted 28 August 2014 Posted 28 August 2014 David Nugent - Seems to be a massive personality in the camp, keeps people up beat and always looking for a laugh.... Think he helps massively with morale. - Shame hes not that good. Wes Morgan - Captain of a team that have a solid chemistry and he must be doing his bit to keep it in place... Helped Liam Moores game big time by the looks of it. Iain Hume - an Engine! Made everyone else work that little bit harder. I absolutely loved this guy! Then loads from the MON era - Matt Elliot, Steve Guppy, Muzzy Izzet, Tony Cottee, Robbie Savage, Neil Lennon, Steve Claridge.... etc etc etc

David Guiza Posted 28 August 2014 Posted 28 August 2014 As has been mentioned in this thread already, Sir Les. Came with a wealth of experience and showed his class throughout the entire season (minus Villa away). On the flip side of the coin, Dennis Wise.
Fox92 Posted 28 August 2014 Posted 28 August 2014 Phillips, Hammond and Taylor-Fletcher last year for starters. Don't look past those three. Nige sorted out our problem, we needed experience off the field as well as on it. He mentioned before how big these players were/are in the dressing room - something we don't see - very coy.
