Will do a fake fund for Saturday :)

Ill post my thoughts on some "fake" bets and we will see how they go

My thoughts for the weekend for the syndicate, if our money was on the line:

Vanarama Football Conference, Saturday 20th September

Torquay United v Dover Athletic (4/9)

Coming into the game, and with a chance to go top, the gulls have been in excellent form, unbeaten in 9 and winning their last 5 fixtures to nil having overcome promotion fancied Woking and Grimsby in their last two games. Torquay are unbeaten at home this season and have conceded just 1 goal at home, a significant factor in Torquay having the best overall defensive record in the Conference. Torquay are scoring goals from all over the pitch too, with 5 goals already coming from midfield.

Dover Athletic are struggling, and will not relish the long trip to Plainmoor. They are in their first season back in the conference for 12 years after battling financial difficulties and play off losses. They have Lost 5 of their last 6 games and Dover have leaked 20 goals in 10 games this season. Their lone away win this season was against winless Telford United, but they have shipped 12 goals in their other away games. Form is certainly not on their side.

Portuguese Primeira Liga, Sunday 21st September

FC Porto v Boavista (1/7)

FC Porto have started the season well, and with a positive result on sunday, they will have a chance to top the table. Porto have won both of their league home games to nil this season, and conceded just one goal this season in the Portuguese league. They have kept 4 clean sheets in the league/champions league. Theyve not been shy in front of goal either, and will be full of confidence after a comprehensive 6-0 win in the champions league vs BATE Borisov.

On the other hand, Boavista are struggling in the Portuguese league. They travel to Porto with the worst attack in the league so far having managed only 1 goal, and have lost both of their away games to nil this season, conceding 7 goals in the process. Boavista's recent history isnt good against Porto either. winless in their last 5, Boavista have lost in their last 3 visits to Porto.

I don't really understand what the point of this is? Sharing tips is a great idea but ultimately there will be no financial gain for anyone in this.

Sorry I don't mean to spoil the fun, if anyone can explain the benefit then just let me know but it seems like all we'd be doing is handing Ash our cash to place bets for us.

Yeah after Maybes point about someone running off with the pot and their being no actual financial gain then there doesn't seem to be much point.

I would suggest, a voting system for the weeks 'bet' let people vote on who they would have, people can their put their own stake on that bet on their own accounts and let people see how much money they can create that way.

I'm in.

Although will likely go alone like many others as someone could easily run off with the pot lol

Think a few voted me pot holder in the other thread. Would I really run off with it? Too many off this forum know me and my family in real life lol

Course you wouldn't mate, you're a top lad but why would you do this when there is 0 financial gain in doing so in a syndicate?

True. I suggested it the way my family one is done thought it would work.

Not saying you would mate. Not at all.

I can't remember whether it was you or someone else in here that suggested transferring the pot to get free bets between members. Some of whom none of us know.

I thought the idea was shared risk, being able to take advantage of big offers that would not normally bepossible, and perhaps use bigger stakes than people might ordinarily be able to place.

Maybe we should have a more specialised betting forum than just placing our bets for that day, rather than the random acca's you see here, maybe a page of well thought out football tips that people can follow if they like them?

I agree. Particularly liked your write up for the Torquay match up.

Im certainly up for sharing the thoughts of others, maybe some polls, helping each other uncover value. Maybe keep it in this thread, i think it would work well and hopefully make us more consistent winners.

Like this to be honest. To be fair maybes knows his betting Lofty too bar his dead cert Rooney bet which yes I did have a go at him.. would like to say Bert.. TPH has had few accounts limited with horses lol

Why don't we just have a weekly (or even daily) poll as to what we should bet on then post our results based on who staked the most and who found the best value?

That way we're sharing our tips and ideas and it includes a bit of competition that all sports fans enjoy.

Maybe a tipsters thread and we all select one bet each week. All start with the same points bank so we can see who has the best return etc?

Kind of like a tipsters competition if you will.

Only if I avoid them lol

I do like your tips though. I know there's some which seem pretty obvious but profit is profit. The Torquay one seems a good shout.

Watford (2.30) v Bournemouth

Watford 3rd in the table, 11 goals in their 3 home games so far all of which they have won.

Bournemouth 15th in the table, despite winning their first 2 they are now no win in 5, even losing to Leeds at home last time out.

Norwich (1.50) v Birmingham

Norwich 2nd in the table, 15 goals already this season and 5 wins in their last 6, they are on fire.

Birmingham 20th in table, slowly returning to the terrible team we knew and loved last season and no win in 5.

Fleetwood v Bristol City (2.50)

Fleetwood 8th in table have no win in 5 now and have only won once at home in the first game of the season at lowly Crewe, scoring only 3 goals in 4 home games.

Bristol 1st in table are unbeaten and have already beaten Sheff Utd away this season. They have won their last 3 games with a goals scored of 8, none conceeded.

Bet 365 will make the treble 8.62/1

However, throw inconsistent but improving Blackburn (2.80) in to the mix away at hopeless Fulham and that rises to 24/1.

Fulham are 24th and bottom but have only conceeded 3 goals in their 3 home games thus far, however a staggering 18 in 7 played overall.

Blackburn are 13th and are a team regularly involved in high scoring games both scoring and conceeding a fair amount, 13 and 14. Fulham will be there for the taking with no manager and if this game is to bring goals I wouldn't back against the majority ending up in Fulham's net again.

I think a tipsters thread sounds good.

On the basis that the tips are well reasoned and have a decent write up as to why you think the result will come in.

Only thing im not liking is backing against teams like Fulham, Blackpool right now.

Theres a time to lay off these teams. They will not seriously go through the season with one point. They will be huge coupon busters and if anything, the value would probably be ON Fulham with a small stake this weekend if the manager leaving has a galvanising effect on the squad.

Just my thoughts

i'd be up for some sort of friendly tipping comp, everyone posts a fancy, any sport, any odds, see who comes off best over the weeks to a £10 stake a time or something simple

It's touch and go which is why I'll do the treble and then another bet with the same teams plus Blackburn. Fulham's morale will be on the floor right now so I think adding them in to treble the odds is good value.
