cuddly ken Posted 6 December 2014 Posted 6 December 2014 Nigel Pearson is the manager. Thats all you need to know. Not for long, is what I'm hearing.
ZeljkoKalac1 Posted 6 December 2014 Author Posted 6 December 2014 WTF???? New manager???. 20 percent agrees suggests that 80% don't. Stop this garbage and get behind the management and team until such time as there is a vacant post at LCFC. If you read it pal, you'd see that I am trying to make the 20 percent get behind the current manager by realising there isn't really a better option out there. And yes paul, pulls did win manager of the year but the reason I pointed out behind him walking out is because he'd have the same budget restrictions here.

If he would have the same restrictions then he wouldn't take the job. Given the ambition of the owners I'm not sure our restrictions would be the same as palace.
st albans fox Posted 6 December 2014 Posted 6 December 2014 TP would take the job. There are probably less budgetary restrictions than you think. The wage structure is down to pearson's wish that there are no players earning a fortune that may not carry their weight which destroys the team ethic (eg beckford). Add to this his desire to allow last seasons squad to make it in the PL and the assumption we are working on a tight budget may not be accurate. Of course, it might be so and we will no doubt find out in jan. If we spend little then the likelihood is that we have a tight budget. at least our current position will allow us to see the real ambition of the owners. A safe mid table position would allow us to carry on the same way, make a whopping profit and a nice chunky dividend payment to offset their debt for equity swap.
MPH Posted 6 December 2014 Posted 6 December 2014 I was listening to talksport drive tonight and quite a few fans were saying it's time for Nigel to move on. I also noticed twenty odd percent of people agreed in a poll on here. Now I believe every paying fan deserves an opinion, but I think people are not thinking further down the line........ Ok we sack him in the morning, who do we bring in that is better? Of course everybody jumps on the Tony pulis bandwagon......the bloke who walked out on his last club because they wouldn't break their wage budget, two days before the start of the season! So realistically with a club of our current position, who can you bring in that is better than what we have now? Oi, Ian. You can get banned for having two accounts!
CPW22 Posted 6 December 2014 Posted 6 December 2014 this mess is down to pearson fair and simply Was he responsible for RDL being out of position for the Newcastle game? Was he responsible for King missing the header from 6 yards out against West Brom? Or the Cambo own goal? Was he responsible for our inability to clear it from the corner for QPR's third goal last week? He's not innocent but we've had a number of individual player errors in close games.
Raj Posted 6 December 2014 Posted 6 December 2014 Schmeicel telling The Burnley player where to slot his free kick in the last minute.
Fox92 Posted 6 December 2014 Posted 6 December 2014 Not for long, is what I'm hearing. That's what Newcastle and West Ham fans said about Pardew and Allardyce respectively.
ronnup Posted 6 December 2014 Posted 6 December 2014 Not for long, is what I'm hearing. Brilliant. From who exactly? Top?
youglan Posted 6 December 2014 Posted 6 December 2014 read the lines if we lose to aston villa that 4 points from safety if we lose to man city we 7 points from safety time for nigel to go and get a new man

ImBlue Posted 6 December 2014 Posted 6 December 2014 The 'in the Premier League for the first time in a decade' mess? Yeah, booooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! No, the bottom of the premier league by 4 points, no win in 9, all over the papers for the wrong reasons mess
Mark_w Posted 6 December 2014 Posted 6 December 2014 No, the bottom of the premier league by 4 points, no win in 9, all over the papers for the wrong reasons mess 4 points with a game in hand against Aston Villa and another 23 games to play after that. It's still a better mess than the last 10 or 11 managers have left us with, and I've seen no convincing evidence that there's a significant chance of any replacement doing any better with the side that is the 2nd cheapest in the division. It may be a 'mess' (and I don't think the performances would suggest it's that bad), but we couldn't exactly expect anything else when we came up and spent a fraction of the amount almost everybody else has spent assembling their sides.
RowZ Posted 6 December 2014 Posted 6 December 2014 His players, his team. Hallelujah !!! It's the most basic rule of management whether it be working in a supermarket or managing a football club - you can't pass the buck, and everything is your responsibility. If you hand-pick your staff, you're only as good as their results. NP is right to defend his players if he thinks they're good enough - but they reflect him and his capabilities as their manager. We all need to accept that and so does NP.

And then he was given about £10,000,000 to turn it into a Premier League team.

Pearson obviously believed his core squad was good enough to compete in the prem with a few additions, and wouldn't spend big - hence the reason for not splashing out. Obviously doesn't work that way in the modern premier league - quality costs money.
Mark_w Posted 6 December 2014 Posted 6 December 2014 Not sure how you get the £10 I reckon it's (£10m) roughly what we spent on transfers in the summer? Lawrence, Ulloa and Simpson were the only players we paid fees for I believe. Edit: In response to yours... How do you know for sure he was given a £10M budget? You probably need to prove it if you're going to use it to try and get someone sacked.

Not convinced that was the total budget the Thai's made available at the time - seems that decent money is being made available for potential January signings as reported in the press ...now things are beginning to look a little desperate.
