Does Pearson really know how to get the best out the current squad we have in this division?

People have criticised Tony Pulis' tactics but could a more direct style be more suited to us In the position we now currently face, I'd say just throw the kitchen sink at the opposition every week now.

I'm just sick of reading the stats every week against these so called bang average top flight teams, we obviously can't match them for all round skill and performance, we look a long way off at the moment.

yet we only have been losing by the odd goal? and little mistakes? i would so we are terrible at all. but i rate cant be arsed to even get into this again!

You're kidding right?

How many times do you have to watch us before you realise that playing 'direct' has actually been our downfall?

A major reason we are bottom is because we decided to try and be Tony Pulis' Stoke instead of Nigel Pearson's Leicester.

You think we're below Burnley and QPR because we can't match them for quality?

The worst thing that happened to us was when we started abandoning our confident high tempo style of play against Newcastle and then Swansea, Southampton etc. Villa was another great example of it and that's why we looked outclassed.

If Bayern Munich hoofed it aimlessly they'd have no quality either.

The problem seems to me that either other teams press quickly and we don't because were not used to playing a pressing game, or we just can't hold onto the ball long enough to create anything. Villa seemed to have loads of possession, mainly due to the fact their back four and goalie were constantly passing between themselves, ok you could say that seems a waste of time, but while the opposition has the ball, we don't.  And that's what pullis would do, not saying i want him, but his strategy is reducing the length of the game by wasting time at the back, taking a long time for set pieces, throw-ins and goal kicks. The shorter time the opposition have the ball, the less chance of scoring. We, unfortunately seem to be of the opposite mindset where we seem to think every goal comes from having the ball for the shortest period of time. We got away with it in the championship because other teams don't play a pressing game because generally the defenders/midfielders are not fast enough, but in the premiership they are so our game plan doesn't work. Schmiechal's not really changed from last year with his long balls forward.

We've got to start slowing it down and the defence have got to learn how to keep the ball for longer periods, it's as simple as that. Patience..

We're wank at playing direct lol we do it whenever we get desperate and the only time I can remember scoring from it was Futac's stunner against Burton two years ago.

We had an exceptional passing game last season and we were patient with the ball. We carried that on and played some fantastic football early this season; some of the passing and moving against Utd was sublime. But nobody has any confidence now and it seems every player feels the pressure to make something happen immediately, a fact made worse by some of the divs that call themselves Leicester fans booing them after (and sometimes during) matches and calling for everybody from the kit man upwards to be sacked. Hardly going to improve matters is it. You can see when we play now, people don't want the ball for very long. They launch it from wherever they receive it because they are desperate to make something happen and don't have the confidence to slow the game down and play the game at Leicester City's pace.

We only hoof it because the players are bereft of confidence at the moment, and if you thought we didnt play it direct in the championship we did quite a lot of the time getting it to channels for vardy and Mahrez to run at a defense

Why do people say pulis would play hoofball did you even watch palace last year, he would play better football than pearson

The point is, WE KEEP LOSING, and that's what counts.

I can't make sense of the last half of your post. Is it a foreign language or something?

although as acrimonious as most threads these days, some good points:

in oder of importance IMO

- low confidence

- being pressed by the oppo

- odd goal

- hoofing aimlessly

- skill & performace

- "little" mistakes

- tempo of the game

- the manager's influence

- low confidence - this is creating the anxiety which is making us think too little when in possession

- being pressed by the oppo - the level of quality even with the lesser teams is still very much more than the players are used to

- odd goal - the lack if composure added to the lack of creativity and clinical finishing has led to potential wins/draw becoming losses

- hoofing aimlessly - the frustration from this leads to a hoof rather than a long through ball along the ground which worked before

- skill & performace - the skill and talent which we do have is not turning into game winning performances across the board

- "little" mistakes - being so tight the slightest error ends up costing dear and as we have seen in last 10 games

- tempo of the game - we DO pass the ball around at the back  and many times take too long to decide how to attack we also pass sideways and take that extra second before deciding on the final attacking option

- the manager's influence - Ahh the biggest talking point - NP has to keep plugging away to instil the confidence we need YES is it all up to him NO, Pardew didnt turn it around at Newcastle, they players found their confidence and found the way to play together

Solutions then ? we lack a link man, an attacking midfielder, some to create the final pass, an old fashioned 10 call it what you will

We have to find a player in role which allows us to turn the hoof into a through ball, not a long one 40 yards to Vardy all the time but to

a target man just outside the box, who can either lay it off, turn and run at the goal and shoot himself or pass it on to the goalscoring option in the box. Options ?

Can our Forwards do this ?

Ulloa trys this currently and Nugent has tried too but both are target men true and true they cant create, Vardy/Wood no point so they havent even tried.

Ok so who can step up from the midfield ?

Cambiasso has been trying this in the past few games but cant get high enough without losing his CDM role which is vital, what little creation we have had though has come from him and some of it has been sublime.  Schlupp just hasnt got the experience/skill for it but is great at getting the ball out of defence all by himself and then .... well.  James a CDM really, no final delivery either and accuracy on goal is not there. King shoots running with the ball not a back to goal final pass guy either. Hammond CDM and a very good one.

Drinky oh where have you gone, not that I think it's him TBH but he is probably the only player we have for this role if he could only step back into the team and find the creativity and poise we need for this, but last year he had more the time on the ball this year he's been found out.

Mahrez ahh Mahrez plays too wide though he has got the potential for this if he could only stop the dribble, dribble, shoot and learn this role, he can run with it but could he hold this spot in front of the box ? MAybe a bit lightweight physically but worth a try IMO

Albrighton can run and cross the ball, havent seen him beat a player in his games nor play with his back to goal .. probably not him

Powell (Who??) well let's see you play it could be you

Lawrence ? too young winger type too ?

Well there you have it the solution to all our problems? no but until we fill this role we will lack the options to attack, get anxious trying to get out of our own half, continue to hoof the ball or run down the wings and lose the ball, draw our attackers out of the box so deep that we have no target men and get our CDMs out of position and suffer on the counter.

Who can we buy that doesnt cost 30M ?

Well I'm off to the airport, see you all at ManC, WHam, Spurs and Hull ! Up the City !!

Losing to the odd goal but every week we get let off lightly by poor attacking from the opposition rather than us being good at the back... Look at every game stats this year, we get completely dominated week in week out on possesion and the opposition having double figure shots against us, more often than not on target....

We've been absolutely dog shit... A fresh change may do us the world of good, don't think it should be pulis though....

But to say "losing to odd goals" is shadowing our disgraceful performances more often than not... We are lucky not to concede 4/5 most games...

Something needs to be done quick.
