The Year Of The Fox Posted 29 December 2014 Posted 29 December 2014 I've barely been on here since we beat Man Utd. I can't stand the negativity I just KNOW that would've surrounded this place. The old 'I told you NP wasn't good enough' and the 'He needs to start getting on the touchline, he's useless up in the stands' Though I'm not sure if anyone heard Alan Green and Graham Taylor on 5Live about 3 weeks ago when commentating on a game that had nothing to do with us saying they thought Pearson had it spot on and that its beneficial to the side. I actually agreed with his comment about the fan v Liverpool, I can't stand so many of our fans. We're almost as bad and as deluded as the Geordies. It wouldn't surprise me though if what he actually said was, '**** off outside' despite NP not setting the record straight if that is what he did actually say. Anyway, Spurs at home was as good as its been in L Block since that magical day v Man Utd. Yesterday, going on what my mates say who actually went, it was the best atmosphere of the season. Whether yesterday was the start of the great escape or not it's obviously too early to tell, and just goes to show how fickle we as fans are. It was a 6 pointer of that I've no doubt but it was still 'only' a snatch and grab 1-0 away win in Hull. So I'm not moving from the fence just yet. However, if we do go down I want us as fans to be given praise from all angles for how we conduct ourselves in the ground. I loved L Block's sense of humour on Boxing Day. There isn't one player you can say honestly isn't giving their 100% and that's all I wish to see every game. I don't actually think we're that bad a side, the first 5 games have proven that. I think we'll get something at Liverpool on Thursday, I will definitely take a point. As a side sort of comment to end this rambling post, I've always said from Day 1 the PL is overrated. The best thing about getting promotion last season was Burnley/Forest/Huddersfield away and Yeovil/Derby at home. The Man Utd game was the best game I've ever been to but being in the PL isn't all that. What happens if we stay up? More of the same next season with perhaps a slightly higher finishing position, with extortionate away ticket prices and the inevitable big increase in ST prices? What happens if we go down? If we were fortunate enough to immediately come back up it'd only be more of the same as this season (with an occasional brilliant win that would never be topped by the way we beat United) I appreciate the need to stay in the PL financially, but apart from that I'm not overly enamoured with it. (and I'd still be saying the same if we were 10th and not rock bottom)
Stadt Posted 29 December 2014 Posted 29 December 2014 The Yeovil game was shit, it was only a brilliant moment that saved us!

Dan Posted 29 December 2014 Posted 29 December 2014 For what it's worth I thought our end yesterday was the best all season.
Countesthorpe Fox 1884 Posted 29 December 2014 Posted 29 December 2014 For what it's worth I thought our end yesterday was the best all season. I'd say Chelsea was probably best this season
dogadug Posted 29 December 2014 Posted 29 December 2014 Hull away best by miles. Non-stop singing for all 90 minutes
Kitchandro Posted 29 December 2014 Posted 29 December 2014 I don't get this 'the PL isn't all it's cracked up to be' nonsense. Every league is shit when you're losing but it's better than losing in the Championship. At least when you win in the Premiership everyone gives a toss. If we beat Ipswich in the Championship who's going to mention it? I'd take the Premiership every single time, not because I've bought into the 'Premiership product' or any other silly phrase banded about to try and make light of the situation, but because it's the top division of our league system and where I want my club to be. Because quite simply, the club is failing on every level if it's not in the top division. Crowds will be lower, atmosphere's are certainly worse no matter what myths people want to come out with, finances will suffer, the quality of player we can attract is lower, we're not in the public eye and our stature and reputation lessens. The only thing that's really worse about the Premiership is the ticket prices.

I dont bother going when we're playing west ham, stoke etc
Fox92 Posted 29 December 2014 Posted 29 December 2014 I take the point about the PL, I think it's overrated and we'll never sadly win it because we'd need to be financially backed (Chelsea and Manchester City as examples). It's a boring division as two teams compete and the top four is the same every year. You only have to look at other big clubs - Everton, Tottenham, Villa - but they'll never achieve anything again unless they are bought out by someone who wants to keep putting money in. Same applies to us and other big clubs in the Country - Derby, Wolves, Leeds - who have great history but won't ever win the top flight again. Best we can hope for is to win a domestic trophy and get into Europe. You know, what O'Neill achieved. And it's not impossible, look at Swansea and Hull in recent times. We're out of the league cup this year, sadly (credit to Sheffield United again), but I'd love to see us have a good go at the FA Cup. I mean, my dream is to see us win it and it's not impossible. But even though I do slate the PL, I still want us to play there. Not because "it's the best league in the World" (because it's not) but because it's the top flight. I want to see us against Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal and I want to see Van Persie, Fabregas and Gerrard take the same field as our players.
MickyAdamsBaby Posted 29 December 2014 Posted 29 December 2014 Hello to foxestalk! The last 100 days has been magical. WE ARE PREMIER LEAGUE!! How many years have we waited to make it and now we have people are moaning??? To see the likes of Gerrard and Lampard play (and score...woops!) is our reward. Though lets have some more points in next 100 day StayUpCity

The only thing that's really worse about the Premiership is the ticket prices. No I get you there and its a decent argument. But we got more media attention last season than say West Ham or Stoke did making up the 'also rans' in the PL. I guess what I meant was bar winning another cup- which you can do in any league- we're now pretty much as good/as successful as we'll ever be

Guest Col city fan Posted 30 December 2014 Posted 30 December 2014 You might want to buy a season ticket at Real Madrid then... What's that even meant to mean? Who would live in Leicester and buy a season ticket at Real Madrid? Being in the Prem IS about being able to play against and watch the best players. I don't go down only to watch City. I get enthused by the thought of watching some of the worlds best players here in Leicester. As most people do, if they are honest.

Even for 07:38 in the morning I didn't think it would be that hard to understand.
