eye666 Posted 14 January 2015 Posted 14 January 2015 well i,.m not shore why clubs bother having youth teams or we even try to nurturer home grown talent .for example Leicester had a great young goal keeper called Charley Andrews but let he go now he,s at Northampton ff sake . Welcome to the forum Charlie.
Matt Posted 14 January 2015 Posted 14 January 2015 There has been a 3% increase in English players used compared with an all-time top flight low of 31% last season. No side has used more English players in the Prem this season than Burnley. Chelsea have used just two. Burnley - 13 Man Utd - 13 Leicester - 12 QPR - 12 West Ham - 11 Crystal Palace - 11 Southampton - 10 Aston Villa - 9 Everton - 9 Arsenal - 8 Sunderland - 8 Tottenham - 8 Hull - 8 Newcastle - 8 Liverpool - 7 Swansea - 6 West Brom - 6 Man City - 4 Stoke - 3 Chelsea - 2 (Source - The Sun)
Corky Posted 14 January 2015 Posted 14 January 2015 What a disgrace we are, denying English players a chance. At least at Chelsea he wouldn't be stopping a young English kid.
Vlad the Fox Posted 14 January 2015 Posted 14 January 2015 Typical FA. Too ****ing spineless to attack the problem head on and fairly, so go round the houses to make sure they don't upset the top four protecting their status quo to the detriment of the smaller clubs and the game as a whole.

UpTheLeagueFox Posted 15 January 2015 Posted 15 January 2015 Not everyone on talkSPORT is anti-Leicester
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 15 January 2015 Posted 15 January 2015 With apologies to Liam Neeson: - "What I do have are a very particular set of skills acquired over a short career in Croatia, skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. If you let me sign now, that will be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you. But if you don't, I will look for you, I will find you. And I will score against you." Very good
The Doctor Posted 15 January 2015 Posted 15 January 2015 well i,.m not shore why clubs bother having youth teams or we even try to nurturer home grown talent .for example Leicester had a great young goal keeper called Charley Andrews but let he go now he,s at Northampton ff sake . so never mind three academy graduates in most match day squads for us, never mind the likes of gradel, stearman, mattock, Logan, wesoloweski, Sheehan, porter all coming through the academy and playing games for us in the past decade, one really young kid not getting a break in a championship winning side with an international goalkeeper is a clear sign we don't use our academy...
gnt Posted 15 January 2015 Posted 15 January 2015 wow you said it yourself in the last 10 years 6 players in 10 years, great record .and as for Schmeichel most over rated player I have come across he might be good in the championship but prem different story does not command his line ,never talks to his defenders .ben Hamer much better goal keeper ..

Stearman2. Logan 3. Porter 4. Wesoloweski 5. Sheehan 6. Gradel 7. Mattock 8. King 9. Moore 10. Schlupp 10 players who've made a sustained breakthrough, add into that the likes of Stephen Dawson, Craig King, Carl Pentney, Alex Cisak who've all been given chances in the first team. You can't accuse us of not using the academy over the past decade. The products haven't been very good, but they've been given chances, which is more than can be said for a lot of premiership clubs. Schmeichel is a very good shot stopper, and he's certainly better than some no-mark kid. So, to summarise, we utilise our academy more than most, and you're a tool.
ADK Posted 15 January 2015 Posted 15 January 2015 I'm not convinced English players are harmed by foreign influxes. If you are good enough to be playing for the national side you will get a chance. In fact I'd go as far as saying we could bring in more foreign talent at a young age and that would actually improve the standard of English players. At the moment you have youngsters that could be future England stars playing at u18 and u21 level with academy squads full of players that might not even manage to have league football careers. That seems to be the thinking behind allowing the top academies to hoover up the best talent, that having them play together will improve their development. We all know the Spanish clubs can easily bring in South Americans, but nobody claims South American influence is ruining the Spanish national players, in fact it seems quite the opposite. If I were the FA I'd help the Premier League to be the best club football league in world football and take a percentage of the vast revenue and use that to develop domestic football.

I agree. I heard Northampton have a pretty decent young keeper on their books maybe we could get him in? Solve all our woes
