tom27111 Posted 14 January 2015 Posted 14 January 2015 http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/fa-intends-to-close-work-permit-loophole-to-protect-english-talent-9976354.html The FA are trying to make the rules tighter, Kramaric used as a prime example here. Just heard a discussion on Talksport, pretty much slagging us off for not bringing our own youth through and questioning how we've signed a player with 4 international caps. They didn't mention his goal scoring record though!
placidcasual Posted 14 January 2015 Posted 14 January 2015 Yeah - Maybe we should have signed Ross McCormack for 11 million instead.....6 goals this season is it? Will just lead to even more overpricing of UK players. The problem is that with the EU rules, it doesn't mean that English players will automatically be in Premier League squads if they close this "loophole"
Guest Posted 14 January 2015 Posted 14 January 2015 Yeah it's not like 3 of our current main squad are products of our academy eh? And a significant percentage of our squad English. More than can be said for some teams.
C-man Posted 14 January 2015 Posted 14 January 2015 Yeah, that'll do it. Introduction of a £10m floor - I wonder who that serves to protect. Oh yes, the same clubs who are guilty of not even trying to develop their own players. Talksport can fvck off too the very idiot cvnts.
benpicko Posted 14 January 2015 Posted 14 January 2015 So our best starting 11 is probably: HamerSimpson - Was - Morgan - KoncheskyMahrez - Drinkwater - James - SchluppNugentUlloa Only 2 out of 11 not homegrown and we're getting criticised for not just introducing our youth when we're struggling at the bottom of the table?
Nick Posted 14 January 2015 Posted 14 January 2015 I like the bit where he says he's fed up of a manager pitching up with a video. I hope Nige walked in, said "Mornin" pressed play on the five minute youtube montage of Kramaric's goals (including the audio of the annoying dance soundtrack) then put his thumb up to the panel, to which they all nod and he just walks out to find some rabid dogs to fight on some nearby city streets.
J.Lisemore Posted 14 January 2015 Posted 14 January 2015 Talksport are pig ignorant to any side that isn't in the top 4. As somebody touched on above, where's all the stick Fulham have had over signing £11M failure Ross McCormack? We were absolutely torn a new one by the papers with how we spent our millions and rightly so.
jammie82uk Posted 14 January 2015 Posted 14 January 2015 I like how he would have a problem with us trying to sign a player for £9.5 mill but if we pay half a mill more he would be fine
PaulW Posted 14 January 2015 Posted 14 January 2015 With apologies to Liam Neeson: - "What I do have are a very particular set of skills acquired over a short career in Croatia, skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. If you let me sign now, that will be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you. But if you don't, I will look for you, I will find you. And I will score against you."
Rob1742 Posted 14 January 2015 Posted 14 January 2015 It's a bit of a farce really isn't it. There is a process for this guy, yet look at our country. We have had illegal immigration for years by the millions and so our club should learn from it like everybody else has. If I was LCFC I would forget the process. Just get Knockaert to hide him under a blanket in his boot next time he went to France. On arrival at our club, just pay him cash in hand or get Andrew Neville to sort out a fake passport. You can pick them up in London easily for £500. Simple, do it the way that everybody else does and he would have played against Villa last Saturday and we would have won 3-0 instead of 1-0.
Itsthejoeker Posted 14 January 2015 Posted 14 January 2015 They gave him their endorsement fast enough?
justfoxes Posted 14 January 2015 Posted 14 January 2015 So our best starting 11 is probably: Hamer Simpson - Was - Morgan - Konchesky Mahrez - Drinkwater - James - Schlupp Nugent Ulloa Only 2 out of 11 not homegrown and we're getting criticised for not just introducing our youth when we're struggling at the bottom of the table? It's because we're not a big boy like CHELSKI Man Utd Or man city simple as ! And because now we have backers who have huge ambition for the club and are willing to spend big some tw@y pundits don't like it or think we're doing something wrong it's a complete farce !!
AKCJ Posted 14 January 2015 Posted 14 January 2015 They're going to stop anyone under 10m. Nice one Dyke, let the big clubs win again you ****.
Sharpe's Fox Posted 14 January 2015 Posted 14 January 2015 Maybe he should focus his time and energy on Man City and Chelsea who buy all the talent then either lead them on with loan deals or rot in the reserve squad, all while playing with only 1 or 2 English players in the matchday 18. Or he can put restrictions on the smaller clubs whose players will never even be considered for the national team.
Lazlo Steel Posted 14 January 2015 Posted 14 January 2015 They're going to stop anyone under 10m. Nice one Dyke, let the big clubs win again you ****. Cue clubs paying over the odds just to ensure they get a work permit. Let's face it, I'm pretty sure we would have chucked a little extra to Reijka to get around the process if that was what was required.
lcfcsnow Posted 14 January 2015 Posted 14 January 2015 how about protecting English talent by stopping the likes of chelsea snatching them and harming any progress they were making. Isaiah brown a great example signed as a kid from west brom who would be playing regular football by now but is banished to chelsea reserves. Not to mention we probably have most British based players in the division, probably the reason were at the foot of the table.
Dan Posted 14 January 2015 Posted 14 January 2015 Talksport are an absolute joke if they've singled us out we have three academy products regularly in our side (which is as many as anyone this season) and a higher percentage than most English players.
Dan Posted 14 January 2015 Posted 14 January 2015 Setting a £10mil boundary is also a ludicrous idea as it will just encourage more money to be squandered. We'd have upped it to ten million if this was in place - so you'll just be paying more money for the same player. The same reason the extra TV revenue means nothing as you can always rely on clubs in this country to over-pay. English football is beyond repair. Hardly anyone's arsed about their academy because hardly needs to be. There's far too much money in the Premier League for it's own good.
MooseBreath Posted 14 January 2015 Posted 14 January 2015 What a bunch of cowards. The big clubs hoarding young English talent and they say nothing. We sign a foreigner because our former conference striker isn't quite making the grade in the premier league and they hold us up as an example of what's wrong in the game.
Jacnah Posted 14 January 2015 Posted 14 January 2015 no disrespect to the OP, but looking at all the responses it makes it sound like we have a Chelsea -esq persecution complex. Its a internet forum but on this occasion I think we should give it a rest fellas...who gives a toss what they think anyway
Corky Posted 14 January 2015 Posted 14 January 2015 Us and Burnley are probably the two squads with the most English-born and British players. So, because we want to sign a very promising Croatian, we should be different and bring through our own? If he'd gone to Chelsea no-one would bat an eyelid. Football is a global game now and clubs sign foreigners, get with the times. Thankfully we want to judge on ability rather than birthplace.
gnt Posted 14 January 2015 Posted 14 January 2015 well i,.m not shore why clubs bother having youth teams or we even try to nurturer home grown talent .for example Leicester had a great young goal keeper called Charley Andrews but let he go now he,s at Northampton ff sake .
