Best XI Of Last Ten Years

Recommended Posts

Posted

With all respect to our esteemed captain and his sterling work last season, I can't believe so many people would say he was one of the two best centre halves we've had the last ten years.

If he hadn't been found out this season, I can't see how anyone could NOT have him in our best XI over the last ten years!

Then again, you've got Kramaric in despite him playing only 3 games for us, none of which he's set the world alight. I dare say Ulloa has contributed more.

My choice would be based on their contribution to our most successful spell during the last ten years:

Schmeichel

De Laet - Hobbs - Morgan - Berner

Knockaert - Drinkwater - King - Dyer

Mahrez - Fryatt

A lot of these players brought in by a certain N.Pearson.....

Edt: My team:

                 Henderson

Naughton  Hobbs  Was   Berner

Mahrez   Drinkwater (on his day) Cambiasso  Gradel (Would love to see him in the prem before he went AWOL!)

               Fryatt   Kramaric

Leon Crnčič would surely be in there, John Pantsil, Jason Banton too I seem to remember

Marco Ferreira, Adda Djeziri, Luigi Glombard, Michael Ball, Sergio Hellings, Nathan Blake, Nicolas Priet....the list can go on.

Fair point. But we're talking best players. Morgan and Hobbs in the Prem would be car crash stuff. And Fryatt contributed mostly in the 3rd division. For much of his time here he was pretty average.

But you had Tunchev in the team, I'm not sure we even know he was championship material do we?

Surely it's what they did for us, not what we think they might have done for us.

Bruma and Abe  lol We've had some shit

Yup... but this is mean to be the best players of the last 10 years

This thread has confirmed several things... a) people are mental b) nobody will ever agree on who was best c) I'll stick with Pearson ta

Again fair point. And I'm basing Tunchev on his game vs Italy in 2008! It's an impossible task of course. Maybe I should have put a disclaimer at the start - 'based purely on talent - real or imagined'.

And I know this has been done to death but Bruma's a Dutch international in the PSV first team. Can we honestly suggest Jack Hobbs is better?

For us... he was a million times better. There's two different teams you can compile, one based on what they did for us and how they performed in a city shirt. Another team that contains players who may not have pulled up trees here, but have shown class elsewhere.

If you go down that route, where do you draw the line. Does it have to be what they went on to do... or can it be what they did before they ever played for us. It's about as relevant. Eg. You could have Cambiasso, Keown, Howey, Dabizas, Wilcox, Schwarzer, etc in there.

True. I told you I had a cold man go easy.

Considering the other options are Alan Sheehan, Paul Konchesky or PVA, I had to go for Guppy. He'd still do a better job than all of them out of his favoured position.

Berner?

Powell?

Remember Diomansy Kamara lol. Him and Yakubu's performance against Forest when we lost 3-2 was one of the most pathetic things i've ever seen.

I can only presume Abe gets in the team based only on my 'He's here, there and everywhere' picture thread.

I'm pretty sure he spent 90% of his Leicester career on the floor after he'd been knocked off the ball.
