I read in the ever reliable Sun today that the lad cost us 2.6 million! I don't remember us spending much this summer, is that price right?

It's been quoted at around that in a few places at the time of the deal and later too.

I find it hard to believe we paid that much for an untested player but from the glimpses I've seen, he is probably worth it.

I think he has a long way to go before that fee can be justified but that figure (and other figures in that region) keep cropping up so it may well be close.

Didn't he mention in an interview that Montpellier offered €4 million (so about £3.1 million) but Guingamp were playing hardball so Montpellier went elsewhere so £2.6 million might not be too far off.
